Would be tough for me not to support him as I have followed him since he raced in the World Sportscar Championship. I'm not convinced he is past his due date either as I think it is the chassis and although he had alot more input towards the 2011 chassis it was not "built around him" as some suggest, it is merely an updated version of last years car. Anywho he has one more year left on his contract and after that I think he will retire as a driver and possibly take another role within the team but who can honestly say what he will do.

I don't accept that argument, it was weak last year and this year it's even worse. Given that logic, since the car would have been moved towards Schumacher's liking, and away from Rosberg's you'd think they'd be more equal in performance, which is not the case. He's being soundly trounced time and time again in qualifying and certainly in the points standings.

I never question his achievements, and he deserves all of the accolades, palmares and legacy that he created, in the results category, he is unchallenged, period. But that's not what's being discussed here, and there is absolutely nothing that we've seen since his comeback to indicate that he's getting better. The car is a leading midfield car which hasn't helped, but then again, it's been put on the podium by Rosberg, it's been near the front on a number of occasions with Rosberg, so I don't accept the argument that it's all the car's fault.

The fact that he's still able to be a top ten finisher in F1 is great, but he's out of his element, the sport has evolved, he's lost his edge, whatever you want to say, but he's clearly not getting results and it's looking like those results aren't coming any time soon. Even with a competitive car, I'd doubt he'll outperform his current teammate.

Agreed, I've been saying the same since the middle of last year, but I don't think he'll finish his contract, Mercedes will give him an out.

Nico is doing great but I stand behind my opinion concerning the chassis but hey I could be be wrong just as you could be but that is neither here nor there. Crazy times I tell ya .

Michael Schumacher cut quite a forlorn figure in Turkey at the weekend. And after the race he confirmed that impression when he admitted that he wasn’t really enjoying his racing at the moment, “The big joy is not there right now,” he said....




...Last year he had a tough time coming back after three years away and finding that the Bridgestone tyres, with weak fronts and strong rears, just didn’t suit his way of driving. To some extent he was powerless to change his own fortunes.

But when the results don’t come in a competitive car, then a driver asks himself questions.

This year the Pirellis are the other way around, stronger at the front than the rear and he has been quite quick in races....




...As to whether this will hasten his second retirement from F1, who knows? He is still Michael Schumacher and his name and status are still of huge value to Mercedes. He has a contract to the end of 2012, that’s another 35 races at least.

There are stories of Mercedes priming Paul di Resta for the seat as soon as next year, but he still has to develop and show consistently some of the quality he showed in the first three races....

In one aspect that is true (depending on the sport) but that opinion is not 100% correct either.

Reflexes, stamina, concentration....all affected by age and all vital to a winning racer.

As we get older, our stamina decreases...Stamina is an important factor in driving an F1 car
We also lose our ability to react quickly(again, another important factor)
I'm not sure what michael schumacher's eye sight is but I'm sure it's not the same compared to 10 years ago..
Our metabolism also becomes slower so it makes it harder to get fit....

There are a couple of sports that aren't as demanding to older players but majority of the sports today usually favors people who are in their prime(28-32 yrs)...I guess it depends on the physical aspect of the sport..

Anyway, everyone gets old, I'm pretty sure reflexes, eyesight declines naturally. Obviously the extent at least will vary from individual to individual, when I can be bothered I'll look it up.

I don't think the physical demands were the same. Or the competitiveness with fitness from the other drivers.
