Legacy won't matter, the records will still be there. People will always find stuff to argue about, but to the casual glance, he'll still look great.

But its just disappointing, its clear there are better drivers who could be in his place now.

I wouldn't discount him being too old now, and past it. Or maybe the cars are just too different, and he can't adapt.
He is in pristine physical health for a 42 year old, I do not believe for one second that is why he is suffering.

He has to play nice, he has to play by the new rules. This isn't the old days where you could get away with cutting people off, cramming, squashing, bullying. You put him in the red bull he'd be flying. His skill is still there, I just feel he can't be mean on the road anymore. No one fears him.

But he's not racing other 42 year olds. Other f1 drivers are also exceptional fit and athletic.

He may be in pristine physical condition, but the mental edge that is required to perform at such a high level just ain't there. These are all great athletes, the difference is mental, and it appears he may never get that edge back.

I think you have them mixed up, mental vs physical, as I know racers who are atleast 10+yr's older than me (and I'm 46) and they can make me look as if I'm a tourist driving a Hugo LHD  .

Just debating and voicing opinion's Jason although your wrong lol!!! ( :whip::wink::D )

I honestly think he should leave and do some cool DTM or BTCC racing, or give the 24 Hours of Le Mans a good try! Or crap, even IndyCar! That would be interesting.

Lemans would be a cool idea... it would be really interesting to see him race Le mans, the racing is already good as it is, with a figure like him i'm sure it would only be better. I'm sure it would also be a good challenge for him.

BTCC or DTM i dont think would be too appealing for him... not much challenge there. He was really interested in Moto, but that is a whole different beast, much like Rally. He'd need to be reborn for that ;)

Definitely my best idea there was the 24. He would draw a lot of attention! Plus it would be a nice way to show off his excellent physical condition.

:hehe: ... I'm 35 this year and I'm nowhere near as fit as even the most unfit F1 driver, I'd need an extra wide F1 car to go racing! too many :drink: over the years!

Look at the bright side, with that extra wide F1 ride, you'd be extremely difficult to overtake. :D

Legacy ruined :rofl::rofl::rolleyes: !!

You may roll your eyes; but look at it this way; you've just started watching F1 in the last two or three years and you hear about Michael Schumacher's seven world titles and countless wins and you see him come out of retirement to be comprehensively beaten by his team mate and constantly banging wheels with other drivers and running others off the road and into walls, doesn't look good does it? Michael should have stayed in retirement; he had been out of F1 for three years and a lot has changed, he has struggled with the new regulations and new position in a higher midfield team struggling to get into the points when his team mate is constantly getting top six finishes!

Ya that's how feel. I just started watching f1 last year and have heard all these great things, then nico rosberg keeps spanking him. and ignore mr, his ignorance is all I would expect from a texan

That's a hell of a thing to say after repeatedly emphasising his willingness to see out his contract!!

I would expect him to either be kicked out, or fulfill his contract and then retire. If he retires before that he'll just look like a real loser.

Come on Mr Legend...give it your best shot, if it doesn't work out at least you still tried.
