DRS, CURSE and the Pirellis all are Band-Aids to compensate for the lack of overtaking that is the cumulative result of 30 years of FIA over-regulation. The trio might temporarily have produced a dramatic increase in overtaking but in the end they only serve to mask the root(s) of the problem: TR-mandated excessive similarity between the cars and overdependence on wing-generated aerodynamic downforce.

Martin and Lewis clearly said they were on a planned 3 stop....

It's hard to hit 60 home runs a season nowdays isn't it? The newer generation of fans like this skill less passing. I like great defending more,and there is none o that anymore

No-one was anti-DRS more than me. However, it hasn't proved too negative so, I'm indifferent to it. I don't agree that it's provided many more overtakes. The Pirelli's have achieved that goal perfectly.

For me it's still a gimmick - and I'd rather see it go.

The DRS negative is that it is clear that drivers are taking the safe option now. No need to try a spectacular/unexpected overtake, just line-up wait and do your vanilla-DRS pass down the nominated straight - boring to me, but for those that see overtakes as a stat to count I guess they'll be excited.

To be honest I think the DRS zone at turkey was a little bit generous. But alot of it was to do with tyres. Some of the overtakes you see the guy behind was getting way better driver out of the corners, in a few cases they were already beside the other driver by the time they even opened the wing. Similar pace cars with similar tyre condition could still defend like Nico vs Massa. Nico must have ruined his first set of tyres though. I was quite disappointed he seemed to be getting passed by everyone in the first stint.

I wish they could have shown more of Kobayashi's passes. I think they showed 1of his overtakes.

The most demoralizing of passes has to be when the overtake happened after the DRS timing point and before the DRS deploy zone... so not only do you get passed, but then you see them deploy the DRS when they're already in front and driving away.

Possibly a bad place for it, then again I'm not really sure if there was a better place for it.

Can that actually happen? I think there was an instance, between Rosberg and someone else in Turkey where it did happen but the commentators weren't sure (as usual).

If the DRS timing point is just a few metres away from the actual DRS point it would make more sense IMO. I don't understand why the timing point is quite a distance away from the actual, scenario which you pointed out is quite absurd if it takes place.

I think it really seemed artificial due to how massive the DRS zone was, we saw people not only overtake but then readjust their line before they reach the their braking points.

According to Peter Windsor, in qualifying Vettel was using his DRS before the 3rd apex of turn 8. The Redbull really has immense downforce.
