Judging from Matchett's latest Chalk Talk video at Speed TV, it appears RBR have done something clever with the front suspension and are allowing the the entire chassis to kneel, rotating about the contact patch of the rear tyres.

Their images show no indication of a "flexy" front wing.

El Pais correspondent Oriol Puigdemont claims to have uncovered a possible explanation for the RB7's flexi-front in images from Sebastian's crash last Friday.

He claims there are cables seen dangling from the pillar which could be used to free the front wing to flex.

Like tightening a string on a bow. No amount of testing of the front wing/nose in the rig created for the testing purpose would uncover that.

i remember seeing those cables and wondering what their purpose was. I figured they could have been for various telemetry gadgets during practice.

Even if its not cables to de-tension the wing, its a good idea for the other teams to do is it not?

Just my opinion but I think that would be classed as movable aero, if it is anything to do with cable tension then I think it would use a reduction in tension to reduce rigidity to allow more flex.

Also, hasn't it been determined that the flex tests on the wing are done with it off of the rest of the car? If so, these cables would serve no purpose, right?

There is only one purpose for a cable and that's for pulling. There would have to be a much better examination of photographs taken from that event, but if indeed it is a cable instead of wire, then someone's got some splainin' to do.

I agree, that's why I described it as a bow being flexed by a cable instead of those adorable plastic toy animals stonemonkey linked . If the wing is tested and there's no flex, then there is no flex and there's no moveable wing according to the test. That image spanky posted is certainly not good enough to make an accusation, but regardless, I'm sure we're not the only ones talking about that, as it was probably noticed by a number of other teams.

I'm just responding to the potential meaning of a picture. I'm suggesting nothing since I've no clue, but I know that whatever is being done consists of a hell of a lot more than just rake or suspension.

You think for a second they'd leave the 100 or so grams of dead weight that cable and its housing would weigh in a nosecone they've probably manufactured two dozen or so new ones of since the moveable front wing flaps were banned?

EDIT: then yeap, good catch thats what it is if it's 2010. I spent some time this afternoon trying to find clear pictures for the Friday crash and everything I came across was the car already on the flatbed or of the car but nothing of the wing.
