Rumours are that if Massa is kicked out, RB would be snapping him up to replace Webber. But I can't see this happening as they have their own driver training academy going on with the Toro Rosso guys lined up.

It's not like Webber came through the Red Bull program either.

Yeah well neither was DC. they were both brought in to help setup the team and provide stability. Priorities change.

Now they have the stability and a leading driver, they'd be looking for other young potentials to fill the second seat. Massa isn't exactly new in F1 and he's not really a big star either.

isn't that essentially what STR is for? RBR also wants to be the best, so they don't think the STR guys are up to the level of a free-agent (not sure if that's a correct term for F1) then they might want to go with a more experienced driver. Massa, specifically, if he keeps improving this season.

But I'm inclined to think these rumors (regarding rosberg and massa) are only a knee-jerk reactions of some journalist(s) out there impressed with their recent relative success. I can't imagine these teams talk much about this stuff during the season especially since so much can change in 16 (or however many) races. Seems like it would just introduce more problems rather than providing benefits.

I just dont see how Massa can contribute much to Redbull. Maybe they could see him as a sufficient No.2 to Vettel, but I dont even rate him as high as Webber today.

Certainly hope Nico stays at Merc in 2012! Team would fall on it's feet without him

So you're saying they don't need him? :D

Just my opinion ok so I do not think Merc want to loose the great talent and potential Rosberg bring's to the team. 2012 is the last season on Schumi's current contract so loosing Rosberg would be a bad decision imho. YET this is F1 where the impossible is possible so who knows?

I doubt Mercedes would let Nico go. It would be more a matter of Nico deciding to leave, which i also doubt... Merc has shown significant improvement and Nico was pretty close to getting a win in China. I see any talks happening right now as simple good ole negotiating.

Everything is sweeter when you're fighting for podiums instead of fighting just for points. I hope Merc can deliver Nico a car, he's deserving of it. I've always said that there's a very graceful exit strategy for Michael in that they can offer him some sort of team ownership percentage and it's a win/win for everyone.
