Depends on the resources used - for my business I recently purchased a second server at £16k over three years. So it's not a fact is it?
You don't need a 16k server to run this website or similar i work in IT i could run 200-300user company on a 16k Server so its irrelevant.
£3 a month for a site like this.

Could have something to do with the fact her thesis was on this subject!
Fair enough, but it came across to me as borderline begging, especialy with DD's comment about clicking adverts.
Don't get me wrong some adverts can add to a website in some cases but mostly they detract and like other people have said slow down and ruin the user experience

A site that concentrates on content also needs to pay for it - once larger than a mere hobby site you'll find very few people who'll work for nothing.
Depends on how that content is generated, if the the content is generated by encouraging community creativity its easy to add valuable content that doesn't need adverts detracting from said content.
