As much as i dont like red bull dominance id rather ferrari remained in the dumps, at least for the most part of the season, cause you b*stards fighting with us would let red bull win the title even more easier then they probably will already!

How Machiavellian of you :hehe:

sometime before season started, and mclaren were having their out of ordinary reliability problems, some people were 'asking' (or desiring, or daydreaming, or hoping....) for mclaren to get some extra tests.

I think that was just Spanky saying that wasnt it :hehe: I know ive never asked for more testing from McLaren.

but what Ferrari are doing now is something all teams can use themselves, just like the other teams also ran new parts last yr during filmdays.

In the end, the rule say no new parts should be used. Is ferrari running new parts? no. Move on. As long as ferrari can Q in 2nd row i think they have a shot at winning races.

when did other teams run new parts in film days?

...Would I be being too cynical in saying that when some teams find ways around rules they are "clever" and when other teams find loopholes they are "breaching the spirit" of the rules and need to be stopped at the first opportunity?

The FIA have been "breaching the spirit" of F1 with the mass of anti-diversity regulations they have heaped on the sport since the early 1980s. I view the teams that seek out and exploit those "loopholes" as a sort of freedom-fighter on a mission to rescue the sport from the tyrants who seek to crush the spirit of racing, competition and innovation.

There's a reason why Ferrari is the most successful team in F1. I'm quite confident that they can bounce back(they did it last year). This coming from a mclaren fan....

They had a 15 year head start on the next competitor?

I had a quick search and couldn't find any rule stating a team can't run new parts on a filming day, can anyone find a reference for this?

Did Ferrari run new parts? I thought it was setup only that they changed...what did I miss?

I posted before that I had a look at some pics and I couldn't spot anything different. The front wing was definitely the one from China. But some media have decided its a good story to go with :-)

My question was, I had a quick look and couldn't find any rule that actually says a team can't run new parts on filming days. If there is a rule it would be interesting to read and see if they can/can't run new parts and if they can/can't make setup changes. If there's no rule - well, there's no rule.

If FOTA decides something like that....is the FIA bound to enforce it? Is it in the FIA rulebook?

I don't think so - it's more of a gentlemen agreement (see KERS last year, which was still on the books according to the FIA). Possibly FOTA has some internal options for sanctions...

Yeah, the long arm of FOTA....

Perhaps they will all get together and declare they are upset....or something equally drastic. Perhaps a board warning for Ferrari? Where is WB when you need him? :hehe:
