Would I be being too cynical in saying that when some teams find ways around rules they are "clever" and when other teams find loopholes they are "breaching the spirit" of the rules and need to be stopped at the first opportunity?

I can't speak for others, obviously, but I'd say it *is* against the spirit of the rule. Just like flexi wings and f-ducts.

It's just the typical media attempt to stir up trouble. One media said there were 'improvements' on the car....and changing rake can be considered such, but the rules forbid new parts...not setup changes. The media is playing on words...looking for a scandal that isn't there.

it isn't that just like Ferrari's qualifying performance :hehe:

The point here is that the current testing ban is looking very pathetic and there needs to be additional testing introduced for all teams. Certainly more testing concessions made for the new teams.

I agree. It is quite vague.

I also agree that there should be more testing allowed. Not unlimited, but maybe a weekend in the middle of three-week race breaks or something. Especially this year when everyone needs practice sessions to get a handle on the new Pirellis, DRS, and KERS.

As I said earlier, perhaps I'm being too cynical with my thoughts, but, when one team is hailed as "clever" for finding a loophole you can't be in anyway surprised if another team decides they're going to exploit every loophole they possibly can. So, just like the "clever" flexing front of the RB7, until Ferrari fails a test, whatever they had on their car during filming was legal :-)

Ferrari always seem to use this loophole, they used it last year too. Bridgestone had a special extra hard media compound for such use does Pirelli?

In the end if they changed ride height then what ever. Even though they were testing in the guise of a media day, If no new parts were used then its technically legal.

But if they did use new components then there should be sanctions and harsh ones at that.

They'd have to fail a test first, that's the standard we run with now. No matter how obvious something looks to be breaking the rules, until it fails a test, its 100% ridgy-didge

Not really, the difference with the flexi front wing is that the standard is a specific test in place.

Not sure what evidence there is that Ferrari have done anything illegal here though.

you old cynic you :hehe:

Cynic I'm cool with, but old? My motto is, you're only as old as the woman you're feeling :D

Yup, and it gives me a good chuckle each week too. Shocked we haven't heard Alonso crying about it over the radio yet...but it's coming. Actually, all three of the cry baby triplets (alonso, vettel, hamilton) have been remarkably quiet on the radio this year. Which will break the silence? Will it be this weekend?

I saw a few pics from the testing, and, from what I could see it was the front wing from China and nothing changed on the rear wing either. If someone can spot a rake change that could be anything other than a setup change I'd be bugg3red. I think it's been a little quiet and there's still a few days before testing, the story was good for a bit of controversy last year so why not run it up the flag pole and see if it still dances. Might even have been Gestione Sportiva seeing who they could get to bite.

sometime before season started, and mclaren were having their out of ordinary reliability problems, some people were 'asking' (or desiring, or daydreaming, or hoping....) for mclaren to get some extra tests. This exclusive gift would never have gone trhough, but what Ferrari are doing now is something all teams can use themselves, just like the other teams also ran new parts last yr during filmdays.

In the end, the rule say no new parts should be used. Is ferrari running new parts? no. Move on. As long as ferrari can Q in 2nd row i think they have a shot at winning races.

As much as i dont like red bull dominance id rather ferrari remained in the dumps, at least for the most part of the season, cause you b*stards fighting with us would let red bull win the title even more easier then they probably will already!
