Hammer, I know what you mean, the silver shark I have has no sense of distance, I am sure he is going to give himself a fractured skull after ramming the side of the tank.

I kinda liked the Guppies, with there posh tails until they got eaten. I also think a Fighter looks nice.

The silver sharks are surprisingly strong though. They can withstand their own stupidity. :D

Anyway, I got 3 tiger barbs for my tank...they seemed good at first. Active, don't eat too much, and have a respectable 'look'.

But after a week, I see 2 of them have ganged up against 1 and that 1 has a chewed up tail/fins, and I read up and found these little b**tards are pretty vicious and need at least 5 in a tank to stay peaceful. But I CAN'T get 5 thanks to the size of my tank! :banghead:

I think these are my last fishes till I can commit to a bigger tank. Which I intend to get in the near future.

Are you sure your tank is only 7 Gals?? that's very small... post the measures and i'll double check.

Tiger bars grow large n' vicious, and need a big crew as you found out.

The only thing i'd keep in 7 Gals would be either a single male betta OR a Neon tetra group + Panda corys. They are very small and look neat.

Today I have added a Pleco to my watery family, well it is being acclimatised as a write.

It ain't the prettiest of things but it reminds me of a spaceship from startrek but can not think which one.

I also got whilst at the shop some colour flakes (not sure if this is a gimmick but it puts colour back into the fish)

Plus got my water checked, it is a bit out but not as bad as it has been.

ph 7
ammonia 0
nitrites 0
Phosphates 1.5

You guys do more work with fish than my fishmonger. Aquariums = mucho trabajo. I'll keep that in mind the next time I see a very beautiful one.

I have never had one before and I am still learning, at the moment it seems to be more of a money pit than I thought. but a very soothing one.

Dude my tank is nothing like yours...its flattering to even call it a 'tank'.

Let's say around 50cm length, 30cm width, 30cm height? Rough estimates.

My faves are still silver sharks. They look cool, with patins. I might commit to a much bigger tank and get 3 or 4 patins + 6-7 silver sharks. And I'll see if I could maintain that little 'school'.

hehe there's a lot of great small tanks out there..... check these out: http://showcase.aquatic-gardeners.org/2 ... ry=0&vol=0

if yours is 50x30x30 cm then you have 45 litres, which is about 12 US Gallon. So its not THAT bad. But do check out any fish you want to buy before putting them in your tank, and only get adequate fish for your tank, if you want to avoid (costly) problems.

I love the catfish.Never have a tank without a pleco, they eat all the algue off the glass, well most kinds of them do anyway :hehe: .
I also have about 3 corydoras in each tank, they are busy little fish that help clean your gravel.Comical to watch at times as well

Mystery of the missing fish!! :yikes:

I was hoping if people who knew fishes well could give some input..

I had left my tank alone for 5 days...and now I'm back and there is 1 fish missing! The tank had 3 tiger barbs and 1 sucker fish...and now I have 2 tigers and 1 sucker!! No sign of 1 anywhere inside/outside the tank. Do these tiger barbs have the ability to eat an entire fish if its dead? As the one missing now was a bit sickly and bullied often by the other two. Anyone??
