Not that much of a bummer, the track is good, but the history and excitment around it isnt. Its just "another track".

I disagree. I do not think that Istanbul Park is just "another track".

There is a cruel irony in the fact that this is the first of Tilke's modern tracks to have realistic doubts over its F1 future, yet you can't get over the fact it is one of Tilke's finest tracks. It is my favourite to be drawn up from his pen. And Turn 8 remains a legendary turn. If only it had a decent turn-out at the event.

If Istanbul Park does drop from the F1 calendar, it will be sorely missed. At least I will miss it anyway.... :(

I Re-disagree  ,

What i mean is, you class Monaco, Spa, Silverstone, Monza, Canada, Brazil in a definitive class of their own, then you have tracks that are average-good in countries with a big following, germany, spain, Australia, then you have tracks that are just.....well..tracks. Hungary, Turkey, China, Malaysia. The latter might have decent layouts, but you dont really get excited for them like you do Monaco, or Spa, because the fan base is poor there and the history is non existant.

Who else would love Vettel and Webber to have another scrap in Turkey? Imagine the consequences :whip:
It would make my championship.....well I can dream.
also who else thinks that it may be a two way fight between Vettel and Hamilton?

Give them time, and they'll acquire history. I love the older classic tracks, and my all time favourites are included in them, but I also recognise that (putting history and poor fan base aside) that the circuits are great.

Like you say though, there's nothing like the excitement you have in the build up to an event at Spa or Monza or Monaco or Silverstone!!! :D:drink:

I'd rather not have a repeat of last year where the winner gets handed the race through others crashing.

I'm picturing another Hamilton vs Vettel war of the pit wall on strategy.

It's probably going to be like that, with Webber and Button potentially getting in the fight...

I agree. This year's McLaren seems closer to the Red Bulls than last year's McLaren. However, last race was one of the ones where McLaren were right up close to the Red Bulls, and duly, some of them fell in what was an extremely close 4-way race. (In that case, both RBRs).

If they are all that near each other again, which I'm sure they will be, expect more fireworks.

I'd bet on Vettel getting more pi**ed thinking about last year as he retired from the race. Webber still made the podium. Vettel might want to put things right (in his perspective) this year...it'll be tough for anyone to stop him. I'm just banking on McLaren closing in on RB in both qual/race pace. Hamilton coming in 2nd would be mission accomplished.

Vettel didn't finnish any race in Australia, but this year he won clearly. So...
