I wounder if Ferrari want to turn this car around for the simple fact Alonso might have a claus in his contract, of WDC by the end of year 2 or he walks.

As far as I am aware no team would guarantee this in a contract. It would make no sense whatsoever.

Where would he go even if he did walk? I cant see Redbull having him along side Vettel. Crawling back to Renault again? :hehe:

Oh dear, the hatred runs deep in this one....

..... or do you think Ferrari (and this is from way out of left field) maybe, just might want to turn the car around because they want to win????? You know, the reason a team enters races

.... and while we're at wild speculation and stabs in the dark on Nando's contract, do you think that if he comes 13th the team has dance around the Maranello workshop swinging dead cats on poles?

Everyone knows that RedBull's success is purely down to the claus in the cafeteria Chef's contract that he will walk unless they produce a car that can win at least one race.

He makes great shepherds pie...

hey what's up with this Mclaren people invasion in this thread?? go back to your 'That's mclaren' thread or smething....
:hehe:

What happened?
No Max Mosley
No unlimited testing
No Secret Veto
No Bridgestone making tires fo Ferrari only
No Schumeister

Where to now?

Back to the late 80s

lol

My role in this thread was to reassure the Ferrari club to chill, Redbull are not going to coast to the Championships as Mclaren still exist. I'm sure you guys prefer to see your old nemesis taking the titles, rather than the haughty new boys on the block with their annoying front wing flexing away in happiness. :hehe:

Not really, how is this thread about that anyway? It's about why Ferrari are so far behind, not who they are far behind.

Also, where's this Massa is faster than Alonso stuff coming from? He's been out-qualified at all 3 events by Alonso, was behind him on pace in two. Made some very good starts though. At the most for Massa, you can say he's a lot closer to Alonso at this stage.

Hey, I'm being a good boy. :D

ok you c an come to the party.... bring girls :hehe:

What I've found really odd is that Alonso is usually the kind of guy that grabs a bad car by the horns and wrings every drop of performance out of it. So you would think that if Alonso can't make that car cook, the car is a piece of junk.

But Felipe seems faster than him, so the car can't be rubbish.

Things that make you go "hmm".

hmmm not exactly....

1) the car is not really rubbish. its poor in Q but its decent for the race, they should have gotten a bit better results. But their biggest problem is without accurate wind tunnel results, they are swinging in the dark w/ the updates, so they are obviously falling back as the other teams develop.

2) Felipe has not been faster than Alonso. Massa's been good, but Alonso has been better in Q, and in the races he's only fallen behind due to strange circumstances such as starting behind a stalling webber in Malaysia and massa having a pretty good start in China, magnified with alonso's drs problems in both races plus the fight with schumacher (the jenson fight cost massa in aus and the schumacher fight cost alonso). With all the probelms they've had, and them finishing so close in the races, show there's no huge performance difference.

I wounder if Ferrari want to turn this car around for the simple fact Alonso might have a claus in his contract, of WDC by the end of year 2 or he walks.

he could have some sort of clause like that. i think vettel has a similar one doesn't he?
but still, i'm sure ferrari wants to improve for more reasons than just alonso's contract.

Ferrari have confirmed they will definitely be running a flexi-front at Turkey. Quite a few changes to the front and rear of the car including rake.

They will be testing at Vairano next week.

I take it that's gonna be straight line testing?
Rake, hm...if only it was that simple...

Vairano is where Ferrari do their straight line testing and that is the only testing allowed for the rest of the season (other than event practice sessions).

Well, nothing is easy in F1 design. For teams with pull rod suspensions, while you can get a lower COG, it becomes very difficult to make changes because all the bits and pieces are in the way. With Ferrari's unique push rod suspension, with longer more angled sections, changes to rake etc become relatively easier. It's one of the reasons SF chose this suspension.

Well, it won't hurt to put things a little bit more in perspective. :D

Anyway, I know I jumped the gun a bit in terms of Massa but it gives me great joy to see Alonso behind his teammate at any time. I know he can't stand that, which gives me that extra bit of joy.

They still need to get that wing working properly...

It's a big ask, that's for sure!

But, on the positive side, Ferrari was one of the few teams to get the flexing front wing working last year, plus they'll have the input and expertise from Rory.

On an even more positive side, given how badly the areo attachments have been, there could be a very big upside if we can get them working well. If we are, on race pace, a couple of tenths behind the front runners, if we could pick up a second in race pace, then that would be awesome. Plus, the F150 is already very good on its tyres, and with better aeros our ability to look after tyres will only get better.

I'm not going to think about the negative side :D
