God i hope not, that man is one of the biggest reasons theres such right-wing dominance in atitudes over here,

If he ever dared to try and take my F1 over, and intrude in the one part of my life he has no effect with his bigoted ideas, then id made a truly active effort to kill him.

Bernie says its all bulls*it though...

Did you miss the bit about a current F1 team/manufacturer is also in the bid - and if you recall I posted last year that I thought LDM was going to be in someway involved in a buy-out bid for Bernie Inc. If it was you could almost guarantee those 4 pot turbos will never see the light of day.

No.....Who.....LDM, wait you mean Ferrari are in on this?

I do not want my races to become pay-per-view thanks very much. I enjoy Bernies ownership, and i enjoy the BBC coverage.

Wouldn't it be cheaper to actually build a four pot turbo than to go through this expense?

There is no left wing or right wing, there is only the all mighty dollar. Can't speak about Carlos, but Rupert would encourage his youngest daughters to become strippers if he felt he could make a great profit running the club.

At his age, Bernie only ever says what the pills he took that morning tell him to.

CVC could be motivated to get rid of Delta Topco and the F1 Group along with it because of the brewing bribery scandal between His Bernieness and Gerhard Gribkowsky

I can't see it happening; the only way Bernie will allow control of F1 slip out of his hands would be via being carted out in a pine box! If a current team got involved, surely they couldn't compete as it would be a massive conflict of interests and no-one could view the sport as fair and unbiased!

I'm wondering if there's some connection there.

Exactly can't see this happening, but sure the prat would make it pay to view

This would be the one guaranteed thing that stops me watching F1 ever again, I detest the Murdochs and not one penny of my money (what little I have) will ever go to them, I do not buy their newspapers, I do not subscribe to Sky.

Another release from Bernie here.

Bernie does say this "And anyway, added 80 year old Ecclestone, Murdoch and Slim are not seriously interested, and he said their potential offer would have to be "enormous" to woo CVC."

Which basically puts on the record that, for the right money, he'd sell.

Personally I dislike Murdoch's politics. However, I get from most of the negative posts that the real fear is that F1 will become a PPV only product and that it will be very expensive in Britain 20 pound a month (or is that per race?) I think people have been saying. For reference, I can only get F1 through local cable supplier, there is no free-2-air telecast of it in the Philippines. But, put in perspective, a cable package that included F1 might cost a 5er a month, maybe a bit less.

Also, I believe the Concorde agreement, which, would need all teams to sign on to, requires that F1 is telecast free-2-air where there is a provider willing and capable of doing it.

Lastly, didn't they try and make F1 a PPV thing in the UK a while back? And it was a resounding flop. They dropped that the very next season. Basically, what I'm saying is no matter who buys F1, it's strength is in its numbers, and any owner simply has to keep a free-2-air version going and expanding to keep those numbers.

My guess is Murdoch would have the basic coverage as free and provide a premium coverage at PPV. The premium would probably get practice sessions and some other bits.

I don't remember F1 being pay-per-view at any time; at least post 1992 when I first started watching, I have watched ever season on either the BBC or ITV for free *

* If you can call it free, TV licence n'all!

Bernie doesn't own F1. The only certain way he could prevent the buyout would be to buy it himself.

Which brings up another reason CVC might want to dump it. They might want no part of the turf war that will follow when El Supremo finally shuffles off his mortal coil.
