Yes, they are horrible. Didn't know they were Aussie designs, but there you have it. The Monaro looks like an overgrown Ford Escort, and the other looks like a budget sedan with some extra vents and hood scoops. Nothing interesting or eye-catching about them at all.

A bit harsh :D

Well, this is "The ugliest car thread." Only natural that my description of my vote is harsh.

The latest Holden Commodores do look really tryhard with the vents and scoops everywhere, though the upper model V8 versions do haul arse. The opposing Ford Falcon (try a XR6 turbo or F6 typhoon  ) also has hit and miss quality control, unfortunately it's a trait of Aussie cars. Though the American cars that I've seen aren't put together any better. "Go European you say", not a bad idea, just don't buy anything French, or Italian, then Aussie or American build quality and reliability will seem utterly brilliant.

budget sedan? It's 80k that model  these cars are far from deserving of being in the ugliest cars category, sale figures say youre wrong! But each to their own but I guess you probably think a Prius is sexy :P

I didn't say it *is* a budget sedan, I said it *looks* like one.

Edit:

Sales figures are irrelevant. People buy tons of crap - just look at the music industry.

And no, the Prius is also awful (which also sells like hotcakes, by the way).

No it doesn't

Given that the base models cost 35 grand-sih and are really povo and crap, the upper models are basically a tarted up version of a 'budget' car.

I own a VE SS they are hardly povo or crap they are on par with many brands across the world!
End of the day having some yank who didn't even know the car he is accusing of being ugliest was actually Australian tell me the car I own is ugliest, well he can get expleted deleted!

that was uncalled for, i think. Just because I didn't know the origin of the design doesn't mean it's any less ugly.

well I won't directly comment on your car. I'll just say that I firmly stand behind my previous comments.

'04 Ford Escape. No, I would not call it a good-looking car. Unfortunately I do not have the luxury of buying a car based on its looks.

I'm Australian and I have to agree with the non-australians, there is nothing stylish about a Commodore unless with that Goldy/Bronze one you posted you count Bogan as a style. I wouldn't say they are ugly but definitely nothing to be overly proud of from a design point of view.

But seriously what is with that Bronze/Gold one, from the copycat LED running lights (Audi style) and the big black nose insert which is kind of a rip off of FPVs inserts combined with Audi's big grill and we won't talk about the wheels, which idiot thought that looked good. It wasn't really the best picture to post trying to prove they aren't ugly, it just reeks of cashed up bogan.

I just checked the HSV website I see the GTS comes from the factory like that and here I was thinking someone had "modified" it to look like that, I can't believe HSV has sunken to those levels of poor taste. :(
