I do not want the F1 cars with 4 Cylinders I want V 10’s back. These are the top cars that man can create. I would love to see a season with no limits. Imagine what the designers could come up with.

The powers than be have spoken and it will happen; I don't think FOTA will be able to advert this happening in 2013. Personally I couldn't care less as long as it produces good racing, I'd be happy with a L4 turbo with push to pass turbo boost like the 80s turbo engines, turbo engines with variable boost and manual gearboxes... guaranteed good racing!

I am willing to bet that the cars won't sound much different when they roll onto the grid in 2013; they'll have highly tuned exhausts which is where most of that "F1 sound" comes from. Look on youtube and search for F1 turbo engines and have a listen what some of the 1.6L V6 Turbos sounded like in the 80s; you'll be pleasantly surprised!

I can't deny the V10s sounded awesome, but that's a very lame way to make a car go fast IMO. Put a bigger motor in 'er!


Brute force should never be the mark of f1, which claims its purpose is innovation.

I wonder if these engine changes will prompt Ferrari to take an interest in Le Mans racing again. In a few years, those cars will have much more in common with their retail lineup than F1 cars will.

Allow me to summarise the criticisms of the new Engine Formula:

"Waahhhhhh, I don't like change! I want the cars to sound exactly the same as they do right now! If they sound any different at all the sport is ruined!"

Listen, if the engine noise is the only reason F1 is popular, we're already screwed.

I don't know if the OP is aware there were 4 bangers in F1 in the 80s and they were the most powerful F1 engines to date.
