haha dont call me a hypocrite disliking Alonso is one thing saying he has no talent is another. Never have I said that. Dont make accusations! :nono:

Sorry but this is about the greatest athlete, your putting forward humanitarian activities as justification for your choice. I think you have the wrong thread.

Im not going to argue with you pointlessly, your far more of an expertise in it.

This is the last reply from me

i think Michael jordan also... electrifying as a rookie, and lived up and surprised expectations as his career went along. He's the real MVP.

Also Schumacher... the guy came in with a storm, it seemed as if he had nothing left to improve, but still he did. Redefining what a true racing driver should be.

Kelly Slater..... the best surfer ever. undisputable.

F1 drivers are the most amazing athletes because of there endurance of extreme conditions, there super human reaction speed, and fearless attitude.

But i am going to have to choose Lebron James.

He was 19 and was more built then players that have been on the court for years. In a 1 on 1 with Jordan, i pick James everytime.

:rofl::rofl::rofl:
Yeah, uhmm, too bad that they play 5 on 5 :hehe:

David Beckham,

won countless titles with man united, played for real madrid, ac milan, three of the top 5/6 clubs in europe.

made his name a company, famous where football isnt even watched.

Heck no, I don't even have to dig deep to come up with a better player, Zidane?

Gary Neville probably has the same or greater number of premiership titles as David Beckham, my point mainly being your greatly helped in football by the quality of those around you. Same applies to Beckham, good enough to play for Man United sure, but greatly helped out by his team.

Beckham's good at passing and set pieces, but wasn't creative, a good dribbler or tackler.

Zidene's won far more individual awards then Beckham as well.

I said it as a slightly patronising example of people who are picking people who are purely masters at their respective sport, i dotn think Beckham comes close. But neither does Michael Jordan IMO. Im amazed most people on here think hes the best ever!

Have you even seen Jordan play??WTF
Jordan was a MONSTER on court,he hated to lose.............. on anything,he HAD TO WIN, he once kept one of his friend playing pool for 18 hours until he won.He wouldn't let his dad win a stupid card game. People like MJ are born every 500 years.
Not only MJ was the BEST scorer in the NBA,but he was one of the best defenders as well. I have never witnessed a better athlete ever.

Regarding specific skills, there's always someone that can do them better than MJ. But as an all-around player and LEADER he was the best.

Lebron has potential, but hasn't lived up to it yet, in my opinion.

The only basketball player I'd consider instead of MJ is Bill Russell. And the only reason I didn't pick him is because I don't think he'd be as dominant if he played today. 11 NBA titles, Olympic gold medal, player-coach for three years (while being the first African-American coach in the NBA).

Can we include Jim Clark, Ayrton Senna, Larry Csonka and Earl Campbell into the mix?

I thought you can include anyone you want providing you can back it up, but apparently theres a few forumners with sticky posters of MJ that wont accept otherwise :D

I'm perfectly willing to accept athletes from other sports with supporting evidence. I admit I am not as knowledgeable about other sports as I am basketball.

I am just not willing to call lebron the best ever just yet. He hasn't won any championships, let alone 6 or 11. And I absolutely do think at least one is necessary to even be included in this discussion.
