Yep, he's really back. As I mentioned, officially he's working on super sports car, with a view to racing. But Aldo said in Sepang that he was working in the F150. It's been deliberately kept low key.

The Ferrari doesn't lack raw pace. If Alonso had started on pole, I'd say he could've won the race. But of course, he didn't. It could of course be set-up related though. Ferrari could lack pace because of how they run their car in qualifying. Since you can run the DRS in quali but not the race, there's the whole issue over how you set-up your gear-ratio's and what not. Also, we know Mercedes has the best DRS system at the moment. So perhaps Ferrari's lacks something.

It'll be interesting to see a race where Fernando doesn't lose loads of positions of the start.

Nothing new there then ,Ferrari's are always breaking down.On a track day once over half over them broke down or wasn't firing on all cylinders.Suppose the same can be said for most super cars though to be fair.

i dont think its a matter of setup issue related to the DRS. They did look out of place and out of speed in and out of the fast turns (Merc also), hinting at lack of aero-force. Ferrari never looked out of speed on the straights. It could be they're not able to tweak the car so much for qualy without sacrificing tire wear for the race, so they have to fight Q with a car better set-up for the race. i think a lot of work has gone (in all teams) into not allowing the rear tires to get trashed ahead of time, so Ferrari's solution seems to be too damaging to their 1 lap pace.

Merc also have the tire wear problem during the race, so it seems they have more work than ferrari.
