HRT definitely have potential to beat Virgin this year, they did it last year with crappy resources and no one expected anything of them. This year they seem to have a good plan in moving forward, lets hope they manage to see it through!

I've got to say, I was impressed with HRT and what they achieved at Sepang. Was lucky enough to get into their pit on Friday and that is a team working together, and, what's more, they all seemed to be enjoying themselves. I didn't see any signs of disunity or anyone disgruntled. In fact, they seemed to be enjoying their racing a lot more than a few higher profile teams.

Well done to HRT for their effort in Sepang!

Any pics from your weekend's experience? I couldn't agree more BTW. You forgot to say that they also looked exhausted! In the interview of Colin Kolles I saw, he looked as if he could use 48 hours worth of sleep!

I did a little write-up for the FOFA people, it's up on their website now, yoy can view it here. There is a link to my pics in the article or direct here.

I was under the impression that the added golden line to the option tyres was printed on just as the Pirelli writing is, interesting to see someone has just slapped a bit of paint on them lol. Nice to see things up close, thanks for the pics.

In China, we will be seeing HRT even closer to the main pack - a number of people were saying how they were still 6 seconds away at Malaysia, but perhaps didn't realise that Malaysia is a particularly aero reliant track, so the gap will always be slightly more there than at most other circuits. At China I'd expect the HRT to be circa 1-2 seconds inside the 107%. The question now is if they can improve on reliability.

It was interesting to see the HRT in the finals laps of FP2; through the corners, the Ferrari of Alonso was all over the HRT's gearbox but on the straight using the DRS system; the HRT pulled away from the Ferrari, even though the Ferrari didn't use the DRS system, it was interesting to see how much pace the HRT has in a straight line, if they can get their aero package working, that HRT could be a reasonably quick car, certainly faster than the Virgins and maybe even on par with the Lotus!

Agreed, and going by the times this morning it looks like the true pace of the HRT is already a full second a lap quicker than the Virgins potentially... I think over the course of the season we'll see the HRT edge closer to the Team Lotus cars, though with the Loutus improving itself, I don't think judging by current times they'll catch them. One thing I'm now certain of is that gradually they will both begin to leave the Virgins in their dust...

Lotus have got an upgrade package which is said to contribute almost a second per laptime, it will debut in Spain. This should make Force India and Williams a bit worried.

...Or the upgrade could turn out to be a downgrade and Lotus go backwards, it's hard to know what will happen with any new parts because of the testing ban!
