Also I remember the commentators saying that Lewis had one less set of tyres because he damaged a set in Qualifying

That's what Pedro de la Rosa said, Lewis made a big flat and they where completely useless, so they have no other chance.

Pain of the day: Petrov (that must hurt... my back!)

 Havent heard how he is? has anyone?
#250247
Yes, it was just a mistake, he had nothing to win doing it, he was pushing because of the rear wing problem and got too close... but bemember this one, and what the Macca lovers said then? http://www.forumula1.com/2008/f1/f1-new ... rubbished/

What I take from this GP is that what it looked like in Australia it's now confirmed... RedBull is not as reliable as seemed before the season, McLaren it's reeeealy close to them, and Ferrari and Renault have a very good performance in race.

Driver of the day: Kobayashi
Pain of the day: Petrov (that must hurt... my back!)

Are Red Bull using the exact same KERS as Renault? If so it just means AN's refusal to compromise for the KERS packaging is hurting them. With how close the other teams are I don't think they can get away without it this year, especially at tracks like Monza and Spa, maybe Hungary or Monaco they can not run it.

Great job by heidfeld. Good to see button on the podium and very pleased it was not hamilton. Alonso should have been up there but there is always next time.

Yeah we know you don't like Hamilton. Alonso would have been up there if he overtook properly, as it was he was beaten by Massa :D

Must congratulate Vettel today and great job by Button and Heidfeld. Im amazed the rain stayed off.

And we all know you don't like Alonso, right? :hehe:

Not when he's smashing in the back of Lewis, no I dont.

What if he smashed into the back of Vettel. Would you start to like him?

I'd laugh :hehe::hehe: Would I like him? Probably not.

I guess the only way you will ever like Alonso is when he retires. Isn't it?

Poor little Lewie... :twisted::twisted::twisted:

Yes he did flat a tyre in quali 2 i think. But if these tyres have been designed to go off quicker and induce more pitstops it seems stupid not to let more tyres be available. Not just saying this because lewis lost out today.

Fantastic Race!

One of the best races i have watched in a long time, probably better than any last year.

Lots of fantastic battles, Alonso-Hamilton was beautiful though i wish it had not end because of damage.
That ferrari has some serious race speed!

Well teams seem to be getting by so far having to use scrubbed tyres in the race. I'm guessing the lack of increase in tyre allocation is a cost issue more than anything else

Also beautiful drives by Seb, Jenson and Nick.

Jenson lives up to the expectation of making the tyres last longer this time

this is getting SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO old. If McLaren had a bit more brain Lewis would have easily been 2nd. But whatever, in a week he'll show you once again that Jenson isn't the same class

I don't think it was McLaren's fault entirely. Jenson did a 3stop and so did Vettel on car that is meant to be harder on it tyres, so it must have been possible for Lewis to keep the tyres alive. Then again Webber seems like he always wears them out quickly based on his last to races.

Lewis' last set went off quicker than expected maybe because his car was damaged aero wise after Alonso smashed his back.
What I was confused about was why they brought Lewis in so early off his secod set which was hard. Why not leave him longer and put softs on for the last stint?

I was thinking maybe the way Lewis had his car setup was more adversely affected by the difference in the 2 tyre compounds. Jenson said in his interview that the hards made the car feel better to him while it seemed like Lewis was struggling with them even before Alonso rear ended him.

If that was the case, why give him hards again for the third stint?

Even further, Didn't Lewis go S-S-H-H-H? I was surprised to see them put primes on yet again after the final pit stop as there were only a handful of laps left at that point. Like the others mentioned, they must have only had two sets of options to work with.

Good race, the Renaults are for real, they're definitely in the mix and it's good to see them with back to back podiums. Vettel has got himself a very good car, topped off with a good helping of luck, he's going to be hard to beat for a WDC this year unless the McLaren can continue with their strides. Silky smooth drive for button, and a well deserved 2nd place finish for him.

The Ferrari's race pace is considerably better than their qualifying, they'll be a very serious thread if they can improve their qualifying pace. Congrats to Massa for a solid performance, I be even Alonso congratulated him today.

Mercedes looked abysmal, Sauber is a solid mid field contender, clearly the 6th most solid team on the grid and if they're able to consistently get low points with both of their drivers, they'll even give Mercedes a run this year.

Petrov's bowed to Heidfeld, their score is 1-1 that's going to be a good battle all year long.

Lewis, certainly had a problem with his second set of primes which basically cost him 5 spots on the grid, but you take the cards you're dealt.

Lastly a big kudos to Webber for salvaging a decent result out of horrible start, even without the KERS he fought well.

That's why I said Vettel managed his tyres better than Hamilton during quali...

Lewis messed his tyres on every stint.
During the strugle with Heidfeld on start, later in the last corner, and so on...

No he didnt. He was gaining on Vetel, Vettel mentioned it in the press conference.

Vettel had problems also...
