There was also a Virgin 1 second faster than the Lotus'....at home ground too. They better have had serious issues to be a SECOND slower than Virgin.

And yes, HRT is the only car that stalls while running over kerbs... I couldn't believe it...

We cant read much into that; I believe the same thing happened to a McLaren a few years back, probably some sort of faulty safety cut out!

HRT managed to get in on a circuit which is one of the longest in the calendar - job done.

Onwards and upwards!

well this weekend, despite the problems, they still managed to qualify, thats better, what we want to see

It's great that they qualified; now let's see if they can finish the race; between engine cut off switch failures and smoking HRT's; it may be tough to finish the race but it's good progress! If they could organise themselves better and find stable funding; they could possibly beat Lotus to be the first of the new teams to break into midfield obscurity.

Don't count on it.

Despite all Lotus' ambition; they aren't much better than they were last season; HRT seems to have made the biggest improvement despite not having a budget to run a F1 team!

well its incredible that they are still even in existance, and i think with regards to lotus, they will need to start showing their potential soon and esp when the new diffuser arrives in barcelona

The gap between Kovalainen and the fastest Q1 time was 1.9s, which is a huge improvement from last year, where the times tended to be four, five and six seconds!
