I'm quite sure we will see Kubica back in a F1 car again - the main question in my opinion is rather - will he be as good as before? Or will he have lost something in the same way that drivers such as Wendlinger and Lamy did - both were very quick with massive potential, then following serious accidents were never the same...

Haha, me too, i honestly think i could drive an F1 car, with the standard know how and a few tips, the fitness would need to be improved but i genuinely think i could , Ive never really had the chance tou prove im not scared of speed or the utter acceleration and corner speed they have, but its all relative. The only thing ive got to go on is go karting :/ although i must say i was a beast!

Bones tend to mend according to a schedule but can nerves have a mind of their own (so to speak), especially after high energy injury. As for coming back this season, there also is the matter of how long Kubica will need after his arm is mended to regain the level of physical endurance F1 requires.

Sandro Nannini retired from F1 because he'd lost dexterity in his successfully reattached arm after suffering a complete amputation in a helicopter crash. We don't know how near a "complete" amputation Kubica's injury was, and I'm sure the surgical technique has advanced considerably in the 20 years since Nannini's injury, but the modern F1 steering wheel also is far busier than it was then.

Nannini is a great comparison . I was very saddened by his accident as he was one of my favorite drivers but yes he was never the same afterwards . I pray RK can return but I doubt he will return to his old form yet I hope I am wrong.

that was a massive beating... i thought he sustained mostly the severed arm injuries... but after seeing femur, fibula and all those open fractures, not to mention elbow reconstruction, i am even more at shock..........

I hope he does, but it is doubtful. Allot of people seem to avoid this topic, But it looks doubtful. But it's not like they don;t have 2 good drivers?

But Heidfeld has proved himself & I think Petrov might be down graded to a #3 driver.

No doom and gloom intended here, but there is a distinct possibility that Kubica's career in F1 is done. It would be a tragedy for him and a big loss for the sport.

At this point without clear medical information as to the extent of his injuries and clear information on the progress so far there is no way to know.
