I beg to differ with you, money is the ultimate enabler in the sport, and all of the new teams have had to build not only a car, but a team, meaning facilities, logistics, staff... the list goes on. A disadvantage only burdened by the new teams.

Aren't there other new teams that are under the same cap and managed to run cars before Quali in Australia?

I understand that the cap hurts them overall, but not having done any track time before Australia is mismanagement or incompetence or both.

HRT do not seem to have much of a media presence either in comparison to the other new teams like Lotus and Virgin who can both be seen giving interviews and behind the scenes videos of their factory and staff.

I think HRT might be a bit busy trying to go racing. They're small and strapped for cash. They probably prefer to focus on the task at hand.

That and...Well...I can't exactly imagine the world's media are busting their door down for an interview. Back in the day, Karun used to do it whilst he was waiting for them to build him a damn car.

But how do they plan on attracting sponsors and giving the impression they are a 'serious team' if they have almost no PR or media presence whatsoever. Their focus should be on racing but they will never succeed while lacking funds!

I'm not excusing the fact that the car didn't turn a wheel before Melbourne... remember though that they still managed to beat VR last year, so let's not rush to judgement. If they're still not getting on the grid due to the 107% rule in China they're done. But I'm saying that there could be a host of other reasons for them not being able to get a car built/tested before the start of the season... one of which could be that they're actually trying to build a markedly better car than last year, something that can't be said for Marrusia.

Let's put it this way. McLaren Mercedes was not prepared to start the season...until the last two weeks.

If Bahrain was a go ahead, they were simply not prepared. Prepared for 107% but not per expectations...so why hit HRT so hard when they have nearly zero experience and zero budget....

Completely agreed. Again goes to mismanagement and/or incompetence being the culprit... Not the budget.

I see their new front wing is ready for this weekend, and they've also reached an agreement with Mercedes to use their wind tunnel to aid their development. With the track length at Malaysia I'm not convinced it'll be enough to qualify (but make no mistake - the Virgin's will aso be in danger here!), but assuming they can hold on, it's more positive information that signals substantial improvement is on the cards.

Pics in both the F1.com site and GPUpdate. Ok, I'm exagerating a bit about the 3rd grader, but yes very messy lines in the paint and the finish was poor, especially when compared to other teams like the RB paint jobs. But you'll see what I mean.
