That opens up a lot of strategy.

Lets say Vettel is being chased down by hamilton and is coming close to under 1 second behind him, Redbull could just call Webber in and put him on inters and reduce the likeliness of Lewis overtaking him...

I doubt they would DARE do anything close to this, they have had more than enough flak for just a front wing. Deliberately spoiling Webbers entire race weekend to benefit the other driver? Not good brand image at all for Redbull.

Nah, they'll call Buemi in for intermediates instead :P:twisted:

I stay around 45 minutes from the circuit itself...and I can say chances of rain during the time of the race (around 2pm) is pretty much 50:50. And if it rains, prepare for a washout...not a tinkle.

just think a few laps left in a race, team 2 is closing in on team 1 car, this race will decide the championship what is to stop team 1 calling in it's second car and putting inters on?

team 2 can not use DRS to help overtake.... oooh the stratergy
#249533
Let em have DRS in the wet and sort the men from the boys i say.

 totally agree
if drivers can't use DRS in the wet then why have DRS in the first place.

+1. These guys are supposed to be the best of the best after all. Unless a rival series comes up Formula 0, and features DRS full use in all conditions.

i agree

Wet races are exciting enough anyway, lets just wet the track and ban the DRS permanently.

I've calmed down enough to rationally asses Ferrari's performance in Australia. Couple of quotes as well from f1.com helped.

The pace in the car is still there, its just the tyres, should be ok for this race. And Alonso is mega. Massa and rain however - probably better off to have Jules Bianchi drive.

Looking forward to this race and I reckon we will see stronger showings from Mercedes and Ferrari. Red Bull might be under a bit more pressure this weekend what with their tyres not lasting very long (which will hurt them more in the heat - if it stays dry that is) and the mercedes powered cars will be fast down the straights.

It's weird how the Mercedes team consider this to be their 'home' grand prix but that's just probably Petronas holding them at gun point as they say it, they are a German team afterall.

I agree.

Mercedes calling Malaysia their 'home' GP...the things money can do.

my hopes for Sepang:

1. No rain
2. i hope Sergio Perez finishes the race... i know he'll be expected to shine, so hopefully he keeps his head cool and finishes the race. He had a very intelligent race in melbourne. points will come, he's good.
3. Ferrari and Mclaren closer to red bull. Renault and Merc fighting as well, if not w/ the top 3, amongst eachother.
4. No rain.

Rain forecast for the entire weekend so you might be out of luck ea. And if it weren't for the stupid European TV viewers sake they might miss out on the rain, but no they need to start the race at 4pm local time. Right in the time spot where it mostly rains.

Don't blame the "stupid" European viewers, we're fine with getting up in the middle of the night. Blame Bernie.
