Not sure if this has been mentioned before but Heidfeld took quite heavy of damage from the first few laps. It might be the reason there was such a massive gap in the race between him and Petrov

That's an upgrade to increase cooling right?

That's a great picture, hadn't seen it until now. I think it's fair to say that amount of damage in that location would have substantially screwed up the aero for his entire race, and likely created a fair amount of drag on the straight. I suppose we'll find out this weekend assuming they both escape the start line unblemished how comparable the pace between Petrov and Heidfeld really is during a race!

I think the geometric lines you refer to may be down to there being a join in the bodywork along those points... if you get me?

I'm not sure when it was taken but you can see that it is somewhere in the pitlane, possibly at parc ferme? I doubt that was after cutting it out.

here are two more pictures, they show different levels of damage though. Maybe some work was done during the pit stops.

Doesn't this picture look fake...take a look at how the tyre is 'sitting' on the tarmac. Its like a copy + paste job!

Haha it's not fake hammer the cars just been raised! Also this damage would have stuffed up the Renaults forward facing exhaust
