I wasn't pointing specifically to them either, for any team that is self destruction in a PR point of view. Its worse than what Ferrari did at Austria 2002, and we know how ingrained that incident still is in everyone's memories. Further, the driver will lose complete trust in his team if it happens.

surely common sense will prevail? If the track is bone dry and its 40 degrees with out a cloud in the sky then a car on inters isnt going to make race control class it as a wet race!


I hope so but what if rain is expected in like the next 5 minutes, the clouds are above but no visible rain?

Similar to what we saw with kimi when he changed early and destroyed his wet/inters (i cant remember).

There is no sense in that, i agree but frontrunner's post about how at the Aussy GP one virgin car on inters resulted in the DRS being disabled seems to suggest that it can happen.

Maybe it's not just a matter of water on the track. Maybe they're afraid that the lack of grip inherent in wet or intermediate tires in addition to the lack of downforce from DRS could result in dangerous conditions whether there is water or not.

But I do agree that DRS should be enabled/disabled field-wide. A car that has slicks should not be able to have the DRS advantage over a car that has wets/inters just because of a difference in strategy.

it was during P2 when Jenson top the timesheets. Jenson's fastest time was mid session.
With 10 mins to go it started to spit with rain but wasn't really that damp for inters but Virgin thought it was and put inters on one of there cars. then there is a message sent out by race control saying that DRS is disable on all cars because 1 car is on inters suggesting that the track is damp/wet. Remember that DRS can't be used in wet conditions and it only takes 1 driver or team to decide if the track is damp/wet.

Now i don't know what would happen if a car went out on inters on a completey dry track expecting rain but i would think that the same rules would apply.

if drivers can't use DRS in the wet then why have DRS in the first place.


+1. These guys are supposed to be the best of the best after all. Unless a rival series comes up Formula 0, and features DRS full use in all conditions. :thumbup:
