Why doesn't he say this only in private? ...

Maybe he thought Hamilton needed a companion in looking foolish in public.

Ferrari are in the hurt locker, true enough. At the moment, there are only two cars that are competitive in F1, those designed by Adrian Newey and those that are copies of Adrian Newey's designs. Until Ferrari swallow their pride, follow Macca's lead and copy the RBRs, it is unlikely they will fare much better.

Well, they tried a third way and offered molti soldi for Newey to join their scuderia. Didn't work, but hey, you can always try... :hehe:

Newey is a tough nut when it comes to team-switching.

Newey imho jumped at a new challenge with an up and coming team with the $$ to backup their commitment, nothing new actually.

I do believe you're correct. Newey knows he can go anywhere and turn water into wine. And there's nothing solidifies your status as F1's stud duck like joining a middling team and transforming them into the prohibitive favorite.

Massa baby, calm down calm down...Rob will save ya?

Rob is the only babysitter cum engineer in the F1 paddock. Since Ferrari's driver needs one.

Rob is good psychologist trying to make a good job of a mediocre driver. Seems like Massa peaked several years ago and has become a moany child who throws out the toys whenever things don't go his way. It might also be the Alonso effect i.e. being trampled down to a number 2 position!

unless Ferrari are giving Massa different equipment than they give Fernando, the #2 driver effect should mean squat for Massa. Having driven alongside Mr.defacto#1-Schumacher and Kimi if he suddenly feels the psychological effect only just now, then he's screwed.

ut no, he is an incredible driver and can win a world title. I think 2008 would have been quite a blow to him after just barely losing the title in his home country. 2009 Ferrari just seemed to suck. 2010 comes and you have Alonzo getting special treatment :nono: (sorry fan boys but Its sooo true), and now 2011, where he has the same challanges as last year, he even said that he was extremely ready for 2011 and was going to be a contender and his POS car lets him down.

unless Alonso's special treatments include warmer tire warmers......... anything else could be true, and it wouldnt matter.

so, was Kimi getting un-special treatment in 2008 that made him and not Massa unable to get the tires working?

:bs: Massa is as mentally ready as ever, he showed in Bahrain last yr! when he goes to a warm track where he can get the car working, he's his normal self.

damn... what does Newey see in those canned pseudocolas with wheels?? :irked:

I never said he's uncool. I'm just saying Ferrari are lucky to find someone who is an engineer and also has the ability to babytalk his driver.

Or to counteact the psychological effect of a prima donna who demands number 1 status (see response to team orders being issued)

Dunno, Semdley usually talks to Massa like that.

That response to team orders was not for the benefit of Massa

Yes I was a little confusing there wasnt I :hehe:

What I meant was that Smedley not only engineers the car but also boosts Massa's morale in a team that Alonso clearly wants to be galvanised around him alone. He keeps him calm and is generaly on his side, someone Massa can always trust 100%.

His response to the team orders was to show the team (and everyone else)what he thought of their shabby treatment of his driver. he didnt speak so plainly because he really thought Massa wouldn't undestand the coded message.
Does that make sense??

Well, doesn't seem like its working according to the people that claim Massa's struggles are psychological!!

What Rob is there to do is to keep Massa "in the race", anything else is secondary... i'm sure the psychological treatment gets done outside the 50+ laps of a gp.

People, please stop babying Massa, he is a strong enough character; if he isnt performing is not because he's demoralized.
