I dont hate HRT or any of the new teams,

But its really annoying when teams scrape together the minimum budget to get into F1 seemingly purely to give a rich man soething to do for a year or two before they fold. I recall Richard Branson turning up to about 2 race of 2010 and now hes nowhere to be seen. All just a silly publicity game.

I agree that Virgin GP is just another publicity stunt for Branson. He is just a publicity whore imho and his history proves it.

I thought of looking into an F1 job the other day so searched around, on the virgin website it had which company youd like to work for.....

Virgin Media, Virgin Airways, Virgin Racing, Virgin Atlantic, virgin trains, virgin mobile, Virgin Holidays.............Virgin NY Times.........

Youd think he was catering for suicide bombers the amount of virgins hes got.

Yeah, but Redbull racing are just a publicity stunt for Redbull.

The FIA under Max should've been more careful with accepting the new teams, should've asked for a decent budget instead of using them as allies for cost cutting and also to encourage cosworth to come back to f1.

The problem here is that those new teams submitted their entries under the impression that there would be a budget cap. There ended up not being, so they were left with the disadvantage of having bought their way in to something that would cost more than they could afford to compete easily. I genuinely feel sorry for them here and it's not their fault that they're stuck in this situation.

I agree, that was what I was trying to say. The FIA let them in for political reasons, rather than thinking they'd make good teams, the FIA just wanted teams that would abided by the budget cap.

Imo Virgin was admitted for $ reasons and now they are biting the hand that fed them. Branson should take a few cues from DM on what it means to actually make a commitment to racing. DM imho is a true racing fan and RB is not which imho is being proven at this very moment.

Your opinions on Branson have already played out. Virgin Racing basically doesn't exist any more. It's Marussia calling the shots. This is how Branson has Virgin do almost everything, they set something up then they p**s off once the risk really sets in, leaving someone else holding the bag, whist continuing to charge them money for the word "Virgin".

I tell you, people always claim Branson is an incomparable business genius. Some genius. He could have bought Honda Racing F1 Team for peanuts, won the world championship as Virgin Racing, plastered Jenson Button's face all over ads for Virgin Group products and services, and then sold the team to Mercedes for millions times what he paid for it. Instead, he paid hundreds of thousands for a fairly minor sponsorship deal, then bought out Manor Grand Prix. A team which proceeded to drive the Virgin Racing brand comfortably into last place.

Basically the reason I respect HRT more than Virgin...there's no racing spirit in that team. None whatsoever. I hope they p!ss off by the end of this year.

That is interesting. And wierd. Man I wish the USA tycoons took this sport serious. Gates, Trump, or Buffet money thrown in this sport would produce some insane competition if you had red bull-esk quality cars being pushed out. Oh well.

Oprah GP. :D dang, wrong demogrphics.

no, no...

OWN GP.

As much as i hate Oprah, that monicker on an American team would be sweet.

in regards to the topic. They are just a joke In F1, I imagine they have no supporters, they are lucky to gain the sponsorship in which they have. They have drivers which are paying milions for a seat that is worth nothing. The drivers can't do there job because they lack in so much technical knowledge.

The team just needs to be dropped for a well formed team that are looking in bringing new Gp2 talent that really can bring it to the big boys, Like Petrov. It took one season but given the second season, first race he was beating Alonso. A 2 time WDC.

Enough said.

yeah, and everyone beat Schumacher - a 7 time champion. This must be the greatest class of F1 drivers ever.

/sarcasm :)

I think you're putting a little too much stock in one race.
