My question is why are you so against HRT and not Virgin? You mentioned "Virgin is wanting to go places, but HRT aren't"...whats the underlying reasoning for this?? Like I said, HRT BEAT Virgin last year so whats the deal? Virgin is taking a unique and STUPID approach in designing their car, that doesn't mean they 'want to go places' more than HRT.

i just think they are total shambles, dont like that colin kolles, tosspot, poor old geoff willis must wonder what hes doing there and yes thats fair enough, but im sorry get rid of them. nobody will miss them anyway

 Whatever. I wouldn't miss the team which finished dead last in 2010 either.

:hehe: sorry the truth hurts sorry :P , and i would rather see virgin that hrt

Sorry but what you say is pure drivel. Fair enough you rather see virgin than hrt (I guess its due to the nationality of the owner) but condemning another team when they are doing a great job with what they have is just pretty low. But that's just you I guess. :hehe: Truth hurts Im sorry. :P:P:P

well i would like to see them in formula1, but there not even run properly, its just such a bad image for formula1 sorry

I think they're run bloody well given the situation, it's just that money talks and they're really struggling to get sponsors. The other new teams had at least one MAJOR company backing them. HRT entered F1 at the wrong time...

I mean, on the face of it them running Yamamoto might seem like a crazy thing to do. But given how bad the car was, a good driver wouldn't make any difference so they might as well have the money coming in instead. Pretty shrewd, and that's Kolles in a nutshell i think.

I couldn't agree more. A lot of the nay-sayers on this thread are going to have egg on their faces by the mid-point of the season when HRT are substantially ahead of Virgin - which they will be. :)

Mm. I sincerely doubt the Russians are going to be able to make the car they showed up in Aus with significantly faster without the use of a Wind Tunnel. HRT, meanwhile, are probably already faster and have probably got greater ability to develop the car. Heck, there's already the fact that in Aus they were forced to use the 2010 wing for crash test reasons. That compromised their pace significantly and they were still only slightly outside the 107% despite having done literally no setup work.

I doubt HRT; not because of their abilities to create a better car but because of their financial structure; do they have enough money to develop the car? R&D isn't cheap and HRT are by far the poorest team on the grid; relying on pay drivers just to survive; which is another problem; a pay driver is unlikely to give reliable feedback to push the car setup/development forward!

I would love for HRT to prove me wrong; you can't beat a good underdog story but it's hard to imagine unless they have the funds to make it happen!

Well they were equaling Virgin last year in the 2nd half without all that money, with that 1 year experience I'm pretty sure they'll establish themselves as solid 2nd last on the grid this season. I won't be surprised if they start worrying Lotus by the end of this season though I think it's a bit too far fetched at this point.

Now this I do agree with to an extent - however Liuzzi is a very very experienced test driver for Red Bull, Toro Rosso and Force India... he will be more than capable of providing reliable feedback. They do have a better design / engineering team than Virgin too... So yes - completely agree that it is the monetary issue that would most likely be the sticky point. Thing is - I think that the money is more likely to be a problem in terms of car development for NEXT year rather than 2011... they'll likely pump what money they have into being able to stay on the grid this year at the expense of any potential 2012 development work. If their 2011 car is fundamentally a quicker package than the Virgin (which I think it is safe to say it likely is), then in my opinion they will be able to make the most out of it. Just my opinion of course. :)

Given last years musical drivers I wonder how long it'll be before Liuzzi is demoted/removed in favour of a driver that brings in $$$; unless Liuzzi is a pay driver this season? Chopping and changing drivers / mechanics / engineers is not the way forward; building a team and sticking with it would be the most prudent course of action, especially for a new team!

I don't think I have an issue and can believe that HRT will be ahead of Virgin by mid way through the season. BUT, and that is a big but, Will HRT still be turning up to races by mid season?

I dont hate HRT or any of the new teams,

But its really annoying when teams scrape together the minimum budget to get into F1 seemingly purely to give a rich man soething to do for a year or two before they fold. I recall Richard Branson turning up to about 2 race of 2010 and now hes nowhere to be seen. All just a silly publicity game.

I agree that Virgin GP is just another publicity stunt for Branson. He is just a publicity whore imho and his history proves it.

Yeah, but Redbull racing are just a publicity stunt for Redbull.

The FIA under Max should've been more careful with accepting the new teams, should've asked for a decent budget instead of using them as allies for cost cutting and also to encourage cosworth to come back to f1.

The problem here is that those new teams submitted their entries under the impression that there would be a budget cap. There ended up not being, so they were left with the disadvantage of having bought their way in to something that would cost more than they could afford to compete easily. I genuinely feel sorry for them here and it's not their fault that they're stuck in this situation.

I don't disagree with the opinion on Branson, though...
