So this tells you how much Lewis respects Alonso's skills and vice versa.
He's right about finger boy,ALL his victories have been Pole-to-Finish nothing impressive with a Rocket Car. When he gets a win starting from 4-5th and has to pass the likes of Alonso and Hamilton, then maybe he deserves credit.

true that, brother

Very funny, Vettel is not his rival. To be a rival you have to race side by side LOL

I think it is a little blashemphous (sp?) to compare himself to Senna, if somebody else compared him to Senna it would not be so bad.

He's comparing the relationship, not himself directly. Also, we don't know how the questions were asked by the reporter...

Sorry, but what Seb did at STR proves he's a good driver. I love Hamilton's comments though and I believe that he in Alonso are 2 of the best, if not the best.

However, Hamilton has lately gone down to third on my list. He does not appear to be overwhelmingly driving the balls off his car and outclassing his team mate lately like the other two. (Although yeah he got a hell of a lot more points last year...)

I think this just proves that many people still under-estimate Seb, including his own peers. The Vettel/Hamilton/Alonso Rivalry will dominate the sport for the next decade. However, Vettel will keep winning if he keeps getting a good car. And he will keep getting pole position after pole position. That is part of racing - don't you know? Vettel has done this throughout his career and will continue to do so. :wavey:

But, Hamilton will always be ballsy, and better chance of winning over Vettel in the rain. Alonso can use tactics, he can have the whole team support him. Him and Hamilton will always be level with each other.

BUT- whether Hamilton and Alonso will be battling for a podium, or whether they'll be battling for the win depends on Vettel. Because in my opinion, Vettel would probably be able to stick that current McLaren or Ferrari on pole. (He'd qualify 4th in STR, and consistently 1st in Red Bull - you do the maths  .)

So with Vettel continually on pole - the rivalry between the other two either won't matter, or it will have to be a three-way rivalry.

BTW - Vettel got 8 pole positions last year. This year I expect him to beat Mansell's record of 14. :cloud9:

EDIT - When I was writing that message I thought that I was being modest by not saying "Vettel, Vettel, Vettel, Vettel." I just posted this and re-read and holy crap! :yikes:

I think emotion has to be a part in who your rival is. To my knowledge Seb and Lewis have never really locked horns passionately over ssomething. It's always been more of an 'ok he just did better than me today' kind of deal.

Pure envy from his side...

You just repeated the same post again in the same thread. What's your deal? Lewis just gave his opinion in regards to who he thinks is his strongest rival, there's nothing to do with envy. Last year with a car which was never a match for Redbull, he was in contention for the WDC till the last race. He knows if Alonso was driving the Redbull, he could've packed up and started testing for 2011 3 or 4 races before the end of 2010.

I stand corrected. I was going on like a cracked record about his qualifying last year too. :P (Just drew a blank and miscounted the Wikipedia table).

Well if that's the case, let him get all of them.

This will be my new thing I'll be rooting for. I want him to get all 20. :cloud9:

Come next GP - I'll have a new dream.

Do you not think that, even if that is true, it might have something to do with the fact that Button is a fair better driver than Massa or Webber - and therefore much more of a match for Lewis?

Because in my opinion, Vettel would probably be able to stick that current McLaren or Ferrari on pole. (He'd qualify 4th in STR, and consistently 1st in Red Bull - you do the maths  .)

Are you saying that Vettel would be better over a single lap than Hamilton in the same car? I'm sorry, but I simply disagree. Hamilton has pulled out qualifying laps that are almost beyond belief given the machinery he's using. If Hamilton were in Webber's seat, he would beat Vettel over the single lap.

And you keep forgetting that, however good someone is at qualifying, being a fully rounded driver means you have to be able to overtake. Vettel is a one-trick pony - he can basically only win from pole. Until he learns how to fight through the pack he won't match up to Alonso and Hamilton.

I'm not a huge Vettel fan at all, but cannot dismiss his pure speed and ability to put on the quick laps. If he can learn to control his brash'ness an use his speed when he needs to, he's going to be hard to beat given the car he's in. After all the hoo-haa last season with the incidents he was involved in, Seb still won the championship - i think he's probably learnt from that and will be an even greater force to be reckon with in 2011.

Also agree with Hamilton's performance given what he's got under him......All the hype about the RB's around the corners etc. and still manages to put himself up there in 1st or 2nd row most of the time.

We can only guess who would come out on top if all of them were put in the (exact) same car.
