No surprise really. I'm actually happy for Hamilton. If he were to have won the title via this it would certainly have been tainted and worth less. If the evidence were of a higher quality I still think there should have been a financial penalty on BMW and Williams.

a financial penalty and lose their constructor points from the race it would have been fair and consistent with what they did to Mclaren earlier in the year

this wasnt a espionage case so wheres the similarity?

The decision was always going to be this one, all the powers that be put their foot down on this one (*cough*Bernie)

what ive found ironic is the reaction of Ferrari fans, they had no drama what so ever in winning the constructor title through off track means yet they are calling McLaren hypocrits. McLaren have said they didnt want Lewis to win the title in this manner but i think the reason for the appeal is this, there are a couple of sayings that ring true....
when in rome do as the romans do... and, what goes around comes around!

the similarity is that they were both running illegal cars. even hamilton said he doesn't want to win the title in the courtroom now he hasn't Mclaren fans should be happy!

All of the confusion on this and other threads only serves to show what a mess the FIA are. As I've said, I'm happy enough with Raikkonen getting the title, despite others issues I would take with the case. Hamilton would not have wanted to win the title like that. However, what has been shown is the FIA's complete and utter lack of consistency in terms of penalties and how woolly the rules are governing the sport.

For instance, you could say BMW and Williams should have lost their constructors' points, the drivers being allowed to keep theirs, and both teams fined. That would be tie in with what McLaren got. However, you could then say that only a financial imposition should have been given because McLaren, Honda (and somebody else as well, I think) were given the same thing for using an extra set of tyres in practice. Then, to further muddy the waters, the rules on fuel temperature are seriously flawed, so there was no viable evidence with which to penalize the offending teams.

The FIA have demonstrated, again, that they are not capable of running the sport. Formula One needs a revolution to purge these clowns with their personal grudges, vendettas and business interests from our sport.

I do find it strange the whole matter has been dismissed and thrown out in such a petulant manner.
