Interesting, Todt take the opposite stance with the Australian grand prix to Bernie, now Bernie says this.

Think this is a good thing, much better at least than Max and Bernie. I have enough faith in Todt to be able to "match" Bernie.

Bernie is such a freaking drama queen. Ferrari are just pulling their usual grandstanding, immature, self-centred BS. When push comes to shove, they'll fall into line, because whilst they hate to admit it, they need F1 as much as it needs them. And he's outright lying when he claims all those people have cited "Ferrari and the noise" as the two things they like about F1. Anyone who picks those as the two things is of little value to the sport, because they clearly have no interest in it.

Turbo-charged V4s are going to be fine. I still say a more interesting argument is why they won't let them build Hydrogen Fuel Cell F1 cars if they so wish, but that's a story for another day.

Bernie is F1's money man. All major changes -- such as altering the engine formula -- require his blessing because he's the one has to sell it to the manufacturers and the suppliers and the TV networks. It beggars belief someone didn't run this past him before the suggestion went public.

So within the past month, Bernie has suggested his successor should be a woman just because, that artificial rain will improve the racing and now he's forgotten he'd approved the blown I-4s. I must conclude he's off his meds. That or someone is slipping hallucinogens into his little blue pills.

Not V-4s, I-4s. And I suspect Ferrari will stage another walk-out before they will acquiesce to an I-4.

Why are they jumping down to 4 cyl anyway, at the very least why not 6 cly? Didn't the 80s cars run on 6 cly?

To be more road relevant; most people own a L4 powered car! I don't necessarily disagree with smaller turbo charged engines but I fail to see why F1 has to be road relevant!

If they bring it down in engine size, they have to have turbos. Is it even possible to reach the speeds of the current cars with these smaller engines?


I say they go fuel cell but then that will blow hrt/force india/virgin/and to an extent possibly torro rosso right of the playing field maybe even williams.

They are going to be I4T's and back in the '80s the engine capacity was a mere 1.5ltr's and yes I think the speeds will not change as the hp rating will still be in the 7's but remember F1 is not about top speed. Only two more seasons until we findout and I think we will be happy .

It's so the sponsors seem road relevant. Fiat, Renault, Mercedes, all make inline 4's and additionally, other engine/manufacturers may jump on board with that change.
