Le coeur a ses raisons que la raison ne connaît point.
I wouldn't be surprised if we won't have a Japanese GP this year. At the rate this disaster is going, first the earth quake, then the tsunami and now the crisis at the nuclear plants with all its health and environmental implications on top of Japan's chronic economic troubles, I simply can't see the country turn around within 6 months or so and engage in what must look like a frivolous motorsports activity in the eyes of all the homeless and/or radiated people.
This all will have an impact which will be felt for years in Japan, with very real economic implications as well. There will be a deficit in electric energy production for years to come, so some recovery will take that much longer, some industries won't be able to produce at capacity, etc. It also will have global effects as Japan will likely divest itself from some foreign assets as it needs extra funds for reconstruction. Given Japan's huge debt level already and its weak economy for the past 10 years, it wouldn't be able to borrow much more from other sources.
Not a good outlook - and we don't even know yet what will happen at the nuclear power plants...
