I have had a go at this in the past, best known was the ITV one where the best I did was ranked 9# over all...but that was mid-season

With having an engine for Renault, does that mean when the standings for a race are over, I will take all the points under the category "engine" from every driver that drives a car with that engine?

So with Renault as a choice, does that mean I look next to webber, vettel, petrov, hiedfeld, hekki ko, and whoever else lotus has for a driver, and add up all the points under engine for each of these drivers?

Or are these points automated and will be forward to some other tally screen so I don't do it manually anyway?

Yes, so for engines you get the place finished for every engine in that position, for car you get the car finish for those positions but if both cars finish a race you get a bonus 20 points. You only get points if you finish, so a DNF is no points regardless of where you finished in the standings.

BTW just looked and we've got 28 teams! Since I think the names are or can be relatively anonymous, we've got an unspoken agreement to limit to one team per player... as much as I'm itching to do two. But we can discuss what the preference is.

Based on the pricing structure it's actually much harder this year to choose a route than it was last year!

Brings the question, if someone wanted to buy from honda or toyota or chevy or whatever are they allowed to or do they have to be ok'd by the FIA first?

For the same reason you picked it for your Fantasy team: they were cheap.

If a teams wants to use it, and it passes the tests and meets the specs, you can make the engine

I'm in the same boat. Although by picking Cosworth I was able to actually get the drivers and chassis I wanted.

Lets assume for the sake of fantasy here, in 2010 vettel had no mechincal hiccips in any of his races, wouldn't he as a driver, generated a sickening amount of points?
