From today's article on the F1 site.

When asked recently if the calendar’s 20th race could be held somewhere else, Ecclestone said: “We don’t need an alternative race anywhere in Europe or any other place. We need a race in Bahrain. If the Crown Prince is of the opinion that his country is able to host a race we will return to Bahrain.”

What is it with this guy? What makes Bahrain so special we have to follow them around like a puppy.

60 million $ or whatever they're paying, and whatever Bernie has to pay the teams out of his share. It's all about MONEY,it ALWAYS is.

Everything F1 is about money these days; if it was about the sport and breaking even then most of the traditional tracks would still be on the calendar and Bahrain would never have been built!

Bahrain will definitely not be in the summer; Bernie was very clear on that saying "too hot" when asked about that! It did worry me when he suggested switching with Brazil; but I think he means squeezing Bahrain between Abu Dhabi and Brazil; rather than making Bahrain the final race of the season!

Possible grid formation for the Bahrain GP when it does eventually go ahead.

The Royal Family of Bahrain had always come across as being benign and kindly up to now. Recent events have shown just how vicious and savage they are when faced with unarmed protestors. It shows an intolerance of views which are contrary to their own that is quite frankly frightening.

As a motor racing fan, I do not think that Bernie should countenance the possibility of rescheduling the postponed race at all. By doing so he would be associating himself with minority in a country who are determined to maintain, by whatever means their control over the Shia majority. I must admit until recently I had not realised that this was the case. Bahrain was promoted as a good place to do business, but the truth of the oppression of the Shai people has now been revealed.

Some thing are much more important than a car race.
