Reading an article in the local paper this morning, apparently some of the drivers have been very surprised by the pace of the Toro Rosso.

Still think they are a good chance to get podiums this year

Alguersuari, maybe. Buemi not so much.

not those guys, Daniel Ricciardo. He has proven he has the pace to beat his team mates, I predict Ricciardo will be racing in Turkey.

Here is the article by the way:

McLaren's 2008 world champion Lewis Hamilton called the STR6 "ridiculously fast".

"They (Toro Rosso) could be the most interesting one to watch (this year)," Hamilton said.

Couldn't agree more. This guy is a super talent. I think he can go all the way. With his Italian heritage and him dreaming of driving a Ferrari when he was young, I just hope we see him in a red car sooner rather than later. I know Ferrari has their own driver academy, but I think DR is the RB driver they should be targeting, not SV.

Yep, totally agree, Ricciardo does look the goods to have and impact on the sport. Buemi and Alguersuari are under pressure to perform while Ricciardo is waiting for either to slip up. I think that Buemi is most under the pump and more likely to lose his seat than Alguersuari if STR want to put Ricciardo in a race seat.

only time well tell

Sure statistics mean only so much.

But i count Buemi finishing ahead of Alguersari by 3 championship places this season just gone, and for the races they both participated in in 2009, buemi again outscored alguersari.

Remind me why Buemis the worser driver again please?

i think that riccardo is a exciting talent, but you dont want rush him in to f1 and say right here you are,off you go in say the middle of the season, im sure he will make it to f1 but just give him time, oh and buemi and alguersauri need another chance then make a choice

I'm stumped as well. What did Alguersari do to earn the confidence of so many anyway?? I can't recall anything special...a couple of solid races yeah but Buemi's had more.

General feeling that Alguersuari made up more places during the races than Buemi. There again, I think Buemi usually qualified ahead of Alguersuari so maybe it's not surprising. It's easier to gain places from the back of the grid than from the middle. I guess I've just argued that I have no reason to favour Algie over Buemi. :)

I get them confused abit but if I'm not mistaken Alguersuari over the past two seasons has shown alot of 'drive' pardon the pun. Regardless I would like the team too advance this sason.

STR I would imagine them spending the year trying to beat Team Lotus

Judging by the testing so far, STR appear to have Team Lotus well and truly covered.

Isnt anyone surprised by STR's pace so far?

I agree! Ive been very surprised at some of the lap times posted by Buemi & Alguersauri! But what do you expect from a RBR team! This remind anyone of when Red Bull racing started to get a little faster!

Now that would be something to see.........sister Red Bull's fighting for the same championship! AWESOME! Jst put Button and Rosberg into the STRs :P

The reason why i feel that Buemi is under the pump is because that he has been at STR for 2 full seasons and his first season was good but has gone backwards every since where as Jamie has been on the improve during last season. I know last years car wasn't great but STR has a history of getting rid of drivers mid season and putting new guys in if things aren't moving along. I think Buemi is a okay driver and deserves his place, its just that if STR thinks the same thing mid season.

id would be careful to read into that though, because they could be doing what sauber did last year and running around on low fuel soft tyres but looking good nevertheless
