The discussion about whether Honda will allow Ross Brawn to run the team unhindered makes me wonder if the team ills are something to do with the Japanese themselves. As neither Honda nor Toyota have performed well. Both teams have the budget, and the drivers, and, it seems, good teams at the operational level. So why cant they perform?
I have dealt with both Honda and Toyota (car production - not F1) in business, supplying them with technical components. I found their ability to define the requirement, analyse the product and put it into production, far outperformed all European manufacturers, so why cant they do it in F1?
I do hope that Ross Brawn is given the space to work in. I dont think that Ross would sign a contract thet did not give him what he wants.
Any ideas folks?

I am also truelly mesmerized by their lack of performance with everything they have to offer. I do believe that RB's stint will show them the area's in which they fell short.

Management issues. In production the very tight and hierarchical management style of Japanese companies works really well, not so for F1 where flexibility, reaction time and pure ingenuity and creativity in a more free flow way are key.

Oh, and not to forget 'lateral thinking' which is paramount in F1 and for which the Japanese management style is not famous for. They try to get there these days, but it all seems more forced than coming natural - no wonder, inertia due to tradition is something difficult to overcome.

I think to judge Honda and Toyota as Japanese teams is abit far off, other than the suits running the show in the pacific all the design and team work is done in Europe by Europeans.

Honda's problems have been Fry, Toyota has been doing alright considering they started a team from scratch and didnt buy out an ex British garage team thats been around for 20 years. Results are hard to come by in F1 you cant just jump in with alot of money and expect it straight away.

Its pobably why they are not good at Rugby Union but very good at martial arts which is very structured.

Me too. Its why I said that they have a good operational team. So, we sem to have solved that one then - well done boys, or has anyone else got a point?
