i think the new circuits are just big open spaces and they have no history, passion, and they are in stupid locations too!, think of the great circuits....silverstone, spa, monza, monaco, suzuka, none of these new circuits are any good! bar turkey

Of course they have no history.....they're NEW! But Turkey and Korea already have good history. Both are tracks which helped define the championship in a BIG way for 2010.

thats true but my point is they offer nothing and another great circuit is canada oh and the nurburgring is quite nice too

When there is a decease a cure is needed and you fight the origin of it! Pain killers are just a temporary solution and after a while,stop working!!

The origin of the overtaking problem are the cars,and by adding gimmicks such as press to pass buttons will just solve the problem temporarily!!

Change the cars,the tracks are fine!

Or, alternatively, may I posit this point:

It's not actually broke, quit trying to fix it.

I've only been truly bored during an F1 race in the past four years during Bore-rain 2010, the Grands Prix of Valencia and two of the Singapore Grands Prix - which are hideously long considering the fact almost nothing happens in them.

So quite what the problem that F1 needs to fix is beyond me.

Just to play other side of this argument. Look at the tracks that Tilke has built, they are much more fan friendly, look at all the grandstands for people compared to the vintage tracks. Where the Tilke problem lies is that he has to put up with all the new safety standards that the FIA have put in place. Can you imagine Monaco saying that they wanted to do a GP for the 1st time now? The answer would be no, little or no run offs, small pit area, few grand stands for people (which I imagine Bernie would get a cut of the ticket prices) and where is the half mile straight that is needed to be classed as an F1 track?

Wouldn't the simplest thing to do in order to fix a few of these TilkeDromes be to widen a couple of strategic turns in order to facilitate more than one line through that turn?

I'm of the opinion that his venues are great and have their own merits, I understand the problem with an inability to pass but from an architectural standpoint they're visually interesting and as mentioned fan friendly. There isn't one single solution to it all, because it's a variety of things with the overtaking, but the little changes to widen the line can't be that difficult, can it?

Yes it does..... If the cars are able to overtake easier/ly this season, then considering its soleyl changes to the car, id say thats damning evidence its the cars fault for the lack of overtaking PRE 2011, if the changes make no difference, there is an equally big enough argument to say its still the cars, as i could point out the braking and acceleration etc is still there unchanged, and that is why they cant overtake. Either way these changes go id still have a concrete argument to suggest its the cars. BUT a better one if it seems these changes to the cars do work.

I think Melbourne is far better track than Canada... Canada has had more interesting races because of the tire wear stuff, but track for track, i prefer Melbourne; and they're quite similar.

There is still a clear difference between the drivers following each other on certain tracks though, look at how Alonso got past Hulkenburg at Brazil but on fresh tyres was stuck behind Petrov in Abu Dhabi.

Tyres also can have a massive impact, they didn't last year, because the tyres were so good it didn't really matter who had what compound at what stage etc (apart from a few exceptions).
