I was reading something on f1technical and it got me thinking.

Do you think the being allowed to use the deployable rear wing when your 1 sec behind the next car will create the "NASCAR" feature of draft buddies.

say you have 1 guy out front by 5-10 sec, he cant use the rear wing because he has no one in front.

behind him you have two team mates that are using each other to gain lap time through the deployment of the rear wing.

this would create an interesting effect of keeping the field compressed

Unfortunately it will probably only make the sport more dangerous as the closing speed differential approaching corners will be increased and so more Webber style launches will occur!!

Drafting or slipstreaming is not prevalent in F1 in recent years and moveable rear wing wont change that; effectively its a "pass" button, similar to the A1 system by other means. It's a technological solution to something that never used to be a problem; comparing NASCAR drafting with F1 is a non-starter, F1 racing is nothing like the pack racing that you get in NASCAR!

And now Bernie wants to introduce sprinklers as well. Another garbage idea.

I say it right now, the minute i see a sprinkler to wet the track for an F1 race, will be the last time i watch.

The idea, at least in Silverstone was to give free beers to a select group of fans and allow them to "sprinkle" on the track. It would save a tremendous amount of money versus installing the system.

Am i the only one that thinks the idea of seeing an old man in shorts socks and sandals pruning fuschias on a hot silverstone day as his sprinkler spins merrily round wetting the nearby track with F1 cars zooming by is, THE FUNNIEST THING IN THE ENTIRE WORLD.

Sandals and shorts wearing almost knee high black socks, I would pay too see that .

I get what they are trying to do with the sprinklers but seriously, what they should do it is if they are trying to make the sport artificial , put big ol giant cushions that line the walls of the tracks, give them ground effects, traction control, anything that will make the car go faster that it was meant to, and if it crashes no big deal, you'll just crash into a gaint cushions or giant safety nets

It might be "artificial" but err, someone designing a race track is "artificial" and same with building a car, its just not traditional. I don't see why sprinklers will remove from the racing experience ,the goal will still be to win.

I heard he's going to do an F1 style wheel of fortune, if the race gets abit boring it cuts from on track action to a pitbabe who spins the wheel which will have things like heavy delgue, very wet, light rain, oil, safty car, and Nelson piquet crash.

The point I'm trying too make mate aswell as others is that it would be 'staged', Mother Nature should determine, imho of course, as too how a race plays out weather wise. I myself am getting very concerned about the future of F1 ie the 'mental state' of Bernie. Just my take of course and I know I'm not always right, just 99.98% of the time , yet I think there is a common ground we all have it's just our meaning gets lost in translation .
