:D:D:D Little tongue in cheek stuff.

Webber confident of equal treatment in 2011

Mark Webber believes Red Bull will treat him equally alongside new world champion Sebastian Vettel this season.

Towards the end of last year Webber claimed that his team gave more support to Vettel on a personal level, after ongoing animosity between the two drivers. They had a tense relationship throughout the season, but it peaked at the British Grand Prix when a new front wing was taken off Webber's car and bolted on to Vettel's. Webber said all he asks is that Red Bull offers a level playing field, and he is confident that will be the case this season.

"You want a good, fair crack at it and if you get caned, so be it," he told the Times. "But if you go to play at Wimbledon with flip-flops on and Federer is playing with Nikes, why bother turning up? The wings weren't worth a huge [advantage] but it was a tough decision for the team. I think, going forward, that we would probably do things differently. It was just another little mistake in the grand scheme of things."

He admitted that his personal battle with Vettel meant he lost sight of the bigger picture, especially at the Korean Grand Prix where he lost control of his Red Bull in wet conditions and seriously damaged his championship chances.

"I didn't want to get beaten by Sebastian," he added. "It's that fine line you walk with the competitive instinct. You go out thinking, 'I don't want to get beaten today', and you are stretched and the big picture is almost forgotten about. Did Vettel crack Webber that day? You could say he might have."

When asked by the Times if he was cracked, Webber responded: "I made more mistakes, early in that race, than I made for ages. I hadn't spun or lost control of the car for nearly a year and a half but I had a 'moment' in that corner [turn 12] in practice and I got on the white line in the race and crashed. It's one of Seb's strengths, early in a race when it's wet, that he drives the needle to make sure the guys behind can't see. Afterwards you think, 'Why didn't I settle for something different? Why didn't I take it to another day like I had been doing?' But you feel, 'Sebastian is one of your rivals and you need to beat him'. And it was probably wrong for the championship but hey..."

However, when asked if he had missed his one shot at the title in 2010, Webber said he still had plenty of fight for this season.

"We'll see," he smiled. "I think I've still plenty of mongrel in me."

Pretty honest stuff from the Aussie! Good on him, it'll always help to wipe the slate clean and start over fresh. He knows he can beat Sebastian, and a 2nd chance won't hurt! If the Redbull dominates, I am more than happy to cheer on this rivalry...its a special (equal) one! :drink::thumbup:

Vettel to me is BRB born and bred, he will be number 1 again. He deserves it anyway. Webber is just a....there are so many words, bad words? I could use really. But he is not as good as Vettel...

No one deserves no.1 at the start, middle of the season...until 1 driver is mathematically or almost mathematically out of the WDC. Even if 1 driver has 10 WDCs and his teammate has none, he still doesn't deserve it if he's bloody racing in any motorsport series.

Favouritism is every where. If I had another son? I would still favour Josh [My current son] Just for the fact of the love and effort put into it. Ferrari Fernando is number one, @ McLaren it is equal which i think is fantastic really. RBR Vettel, Mercedes dumbly enough Schumi is? :banghead: Williams Barichello is, Sauber Kumi is, Lotus Trulli is, Virgin Glock is, HRT I AM NUMBER 1 :D It is every where, even in football? Moto Gp? Stoner will be the golden boy at HRC?

He "deserves" if his team decide to give it to him. That's all there is to it. There is no automatic guaranteed right to be treated equally in a private organisation. The only thing near I can think of is a team not being allowed to discriminate on the basis of race, religion sexuality etc.

Spot on, To be fair Vettel in the last round had no chance according to every one at the circuit. Alonso was a for sure in for the win. Everyone @ RBR said that Webber would get it? But he didn't? He made a mistake and vettel worked hard and got somthing out of all the odds against him. he deserves the number 1, he is talented. He just needs to be put on a leash from time to time....

I'm talking from a sporting point of view, but what you say is common sense and like it or not, will exist in every business of course.

Vettel will be favoured by Red Bull from day 1. They will both get their cars of equal ground, but Red Bull prefer Vettel to keep winning. Of course, Vettel's comments about Ferrari and so on can work both towards him or against him....... so i guess it depends on how well on form Vettel shows up this coming season.

Mark has the chance to prove Vettel and Red Bull wrong, but he's gotta work for it and show results for it against the driver his team is trying to please, while Vettel has to screw his way out of being the number 1, which seems difficult (driving wise) because he is freaking fast.

Agree, he is the JNR of RBR and alwasy will be, even when eh one day comes on the back of the prancing horse I bet you £20 says he still has RB on the side of his helmet.

I saw this and was expecting a mockery of the Lewis and Alonso one but unfortunately it isnt. (not saying its bad, im just disappointed as i was looking for a cheap laugh)

I think only time will tell about this Vet vs Web rivalry.

I mean wouldnt RedBull like for Webber to win? They could claim that Redbull were able to FINALLY give Webber a medium to show his expertise and go on with that bs since they are done with the we brought vettel up and fed him Redbull to make him fast.

im sorry but since when was webber held back from vettel, never, so all this stupid talk can stop, apart from one poxy wing for one race, Red Bull gave webber every chance bar none to take it to vettel, and he lost oit from his own mistakes, not favouritism.
