Barring an unforeseen scheduling hiccup, two-time NASCAR champion Tony Stewart and 2008 Formula 1 World Champion Lewis Hamilton will swap race cars in an exhibition later this year, Stewart-Haas Racing spokesman Mike Arning confirmed Saturday. The seat swap comes at the hands of Mobil 1, a mutual sponsor for the two drivers, and is expected to take place at Watkins Glen International sometime during the summer. The cars involved will not be show cars. They will be legitimate race-prepared machines.

I wouldn't be too condescending, boys. This was done before with Jeff Gordon and Juan Pablo Montoya back in Juan's Williams BMW days. Gordan was just over a second off of Juan's pace in the BMW. Juan couldn't come within 4 seconds of Gordon in the NASCAR.

One is a light weight, 1400 lb., computer controlled & assisted, carbon fiber braked, 3000 pounds of down-force, 12 million dollar machine with 750HP.
The other is a 3400 lb., 1000 hp, ceramic braked, steel rotored, no aides or controls, no electronics, no down-forced machine.

Guess which one is actually far harder to drive?

You are, of course, kidding. You have to be. The NASCAR is, hands down. It is actually faster, it has no downforce at all to speak of, it's brakes do not work 1/10th as well, it's far heavier, doesn't handle and can boil the tires off the rims in any gear. You can't adjust anything, there are no computers to help you.

Juan Pablo Montoya, Jacques Villenueve, and Michael Schumacher agree, and I think they know just a little bit of what they're talking about.

They are two different beasts, and one one of those beasts drives around Monaco an Spa. I agree that it would take more time for an F1 driver to acquiesse to a stock car, but I'm also willing to go out on a limb and say that there's not a NASCAR driver that could get into an F1 car and figure out how to drive it let alone get a respectable mid field time.

How long before a NASCAR driver figures out that drafting is not such a good idea in an F1 car?

actually the Nascar does have some downforce. That comment there just says what you know about well, anything.

I think it is interesting for the simple fact that drivers from other series get too experience something new and any racecar driver worth their salt enjoy's such things. Both forms are difficult to extract maximum performance from and hey I'm pretty sure Tony and Lewis will have a great time and thats all that really matters isn't it?

No... to Mobile1 what matters is getting the most amount of people talking about this publicity stunt. Now if they were swapping girlfriends instead of cars I'd be more interested in their comments.

I merely based my opinion on what I think is the drivers perspective not what Mobile 1 has up it's sleeve.
