Book reveals Alonso tried to sabotage Hamilton’s car

LONDON: Lewis Hamilton has learned the full extent of the treachery of former team-mate Fernando Alonso.

A new book reveals how the spiteful Spaniard actually asked the pair’s McLaren team boss Ron Dennis to sabotage Hamilton’s car to ensure it ran out of fuel.

And it confirms Alonso also tried to ‘blackmail’ Dennis into making him their No. 1 driver as he and Hamilton bitterly fought each other for the Formula One world title.

The shocking claims come in Tom Bowers’ just-published biography “No Angel: The Secret Life of Bernie Ecclestone.”

The book reveals Alonso gave his boss an ultimatum just hours ahead of the 2007 Hungarian Grand Prix.

It says he warned Dennis he would hand over incriminating emails to the sport’s governing body the FIA if he was not given preferential treatment over his rival.

These latest revelations are sure to deepen the feud between the two former world champions.

How trustworthy is the source though? Is this something which is helping to promote the book? If it is a marketing ploy, it's definitely working...I can't wait to get my hands on it!! :D

This is one of the 2 massive agendas (The other being McLaren-Ferrari Spygate saga) which was never fully uncovered.

Hopefully the 'X-Files' on this can be opened up and reveal a lot more truths about Mr X's real character. Yes, the same Mr X who 'claimed immunity' and for his identity to never be revealed in the Renault crash-gate saga. I never had doubts reg who it was. :D

Cant wait to buy this book, should be VERY interesting.

Alonso definitely fits the evil villain role quite well but Lewis doesnt fit the helpless victim character.

Its not a repeating joke, its probably some new evidence for what happened in the team in that year. Some people are interested, some aren't. If you're not interested in it, bugger off and post your lame pictures somewhere else.

Seems odd to me that such a thing would come out in a book about Ecclestone

Exactly my thoughts, so Ecclestone had some inside info about what's going down in the McLaren camp as well? Talk about can of worms. :hehe:

2007 was excting year for me in F1. I would like to read this. Hopefully they make a Spygate one as well as this is related. I remember the excitement Spygate events gave me at the time. I was living in Australia at the time and I used to get up at crazy hours of the morning just to check the news and outcomes as it excited me as much as the actual car racing did. :)

oh well. for me it is like in the other post, first country, then team and driver last. In other words as long as Alonso is a Ferrari driver and winning, I do not really care. If he becomes not so good and trouble then I would not care if he left Ferrari as I do not care who drives the Ferrari, as long as the Ferrari win.
