I know this is getting a "little" ahead of things, but I found this to be welcomed news over on GPUpdate.

Organisers for this October’s Indian Grand Prix have explained that small circuit tweaks continue to be made in order to create as many overtaking possibilities as possible ahead of the inaugural race at the Greater Noida-based track.

India’s first taste of Formula 1 will arrive on the weekend of 28-29-30 October, with the project being headed by Vicky Chandhok – father of former Hispania racer Karun and President of the Federation of Motor Sports Club of India (FMSCI).

“Bernie (Ecclestone, F1 commercial rights holder) was very happy with his visit, extremely happy,” Chandhok Sr. explained to India’s F1Pulse.

He went on to describe the comments of FIA Race Director Charlie Whiting, who recently inspected the venue. “Charlie pointed out that (F1 governing body) the FIA has recommended a few areas to encourage overtaking,” Chandhok continued.

“We will be the first circuit in the world to have a faster corner into a shorter apex, which means we are widening three corners to create a shorter apex at Turns 3, 6, and 11 - this was put forth by the FIA through Charlie Whiting.

“A panel that had Michael Schumacher and Alexander Wurz of the FIA Institute recommended it. They have simulated all this, they put together all the data and then we decided that three of the corners could be changed to encourage overtaking.

“While we were obliged not to do it, (construction company) the Jaypee Group has instantly agreed to the improvements. We will change the profile of the three corners. That is already underway.”

I think the Indian GP could be a real showpiece. I like the layout already as it reminds me of a modern version of Interlagos, can't wait for the circus to head there!!

Cowboy Karun's father's Christian name is Vicky? What's his mother's name, David?

It's possible that Vicky is what his English cronies nicknamed him because they couldn't pronounce his full name. :D Many years ago I worked with a guy named Sastry Malapaka. I loved saying his name.

Makes sense. I once worked with an Indian who had taken to being called Robert after working in Singapore because the ethnic Chinese there kept mangling Rajendra.

As long as it's not a borring track, no problemo! India could be a nice destination...

Nice? Hmm, wrong word perhaps, worthwhile, certainly.

It depends what you are looking for. If you are looking for heaven on Earth, Look the other way.

An apt analysis. I don't fancy going back but don't regret that I went.
