Also, some may call it silly season others not, but does anyone see sauber making a considerable impact in 2011


- perez generally accepted as the better of himself and maldonado, despite the latter winning the gp2 title
- perhaps the best team principal in the sport in sauber
- a team who made giants leap from a rubbish car to a good car the moment james key stepped into the team about a third into the season. looks promising given hes got a clean sheet for 2011
- kobayashi was rookie of the year according to most and has shown that overtaking can be done.
- the team running on fumes in 2010 now has massive backing from mexican billionaire telmeira
- the team also racked up a few sponsors to sponsor from 2011, this more money for the team
-lastly, the team has one of the best, well, teams, in terms of organisation and dedication


infact im putting my money on them for the dark horses of 2011.

The mid field is going to be a slugfest this year, if Lotus moves up as everyone expects, it'll also be FI, Sauber, Williams and TR (although they're looking more and more adrift) be pushing for those 8~10 Q3 grid spots. I hope this massive infusion of cash really gives Sauber the edge, I'll be rooting for them, back to back rookie of the year efforts.

Sauber links up with Tequila Jose Cuervo

Leading tequila brand Jose Cuervo has added its name to the sponsors that will be featured on the Sauber C30 this year, following a new partnership deal with the team ahead of the 2011 season. Jose Cuervo is the leading tequila producer in the world, and will see its logo on the sidepod and nose of the squad’s new challenger.

After the Hinwil-based outfit announced Sergio Pérez in October last year, team boss Peter Sauber stated that the Mexican market has been much easier to break into. The new deal with Jose Cuervo highlights the impact his new signing has had on the country, and the positive effect if it having on his team.

"We are very pleased to welcome Jose Cuervo as a new partner," Sauber commented. “To sign Sergio Pérez as the team mate of Kamui Kobayashi has had an impressive and passionate impact on the Mexican market."

Juan Domingo Beckmann, CEO of Jose Cuervo, added: "When we found out a Mexican driver had secured a seat with the Sauber F1 Team it all clicked for Jose Cuervo to support him and the team. It is very clear when all the right pieces fall into place things work out naturally."

"Sergio is a great driver racing for a superb team in the most prestigious of all sports, so why not involve the most distinguished tequila in the world, Jose Cuervo. We are convinced this will be a very successful venture for the company and for Mexico."

The 2007 world champion, who switched full-time to the world rally championship when Ferrari replaced him with Fernando Alonso in 2010, was at one point last year considered as a leading contender for a return to the grid in 2011 with Renault.

He was again put forward as a candidate after Robert Kubica's horror rally crash, but 31-year-old Raikkonen expressed no interest and has recently confirmed he is happy rallying under his own entry, which finished a promising eighth in the opening event in Sweden earlier this month.

"I have no interest in returning to Formula One," he is quoted by Gulf News. "I do not want to talk about Formula One. Rallying is where I want to be. And it is good to be back for another season."

I would make a joke about JPM but it seems both of the 2 great F1 drivers now do not want to return? It seems drivers aspire to hit the F1? Yet when they escape they love it...Hmmm? Strange.
