Toro Rosso’s STR6 seems to have quite a bit of pace early in the season, could they sneak up and grab some podiums this season?

If I am not mistaken, the STR6 is essentially a Red Bull Chassis with a Ferrari Engine and KERS system?

I would also expect Daniel Ricciardo to replace one of his colleagues and become a regular driver for Toro Rosso by seasons end.

I would classify Team Lotus as a possible dark horse to be near-regular points contenders. Easily racking up lets say, 15-20 points for 2011? Is that too optimistic?

STR I would imagine them spending the year trying to beat Team Lotus

Judging by the testing so far, STR appear to have Team Lotus well and truly covered.

Isnt anyone surprised by STR's pace so far?

Ya I am. They appear to have a great car, fast and consistent.

I'm sure Williams and FI have noticed it big time.

Aren't we reading too much into testing times? Remember Sauber last year?

Ya that's true but they are notably quicker this winter than the previous two and not just quicker. Their lap times are strong over long runs.

Are Toro Rosso lacking sponsorship? It made sense for Sauber to short fuel every run last year to try gain sponsors.

If i remeber correctly, Toro Rosso had the highest MPH in 2010, or at least in acouple races.

Red Bulls success will trickle down to STR eventually

Last year I was rootin' for Red Bull primarily. This year I'm hoping to see another epic STR victory - and hopefully that would be Ricciardo.

Maybe on debut? Ok - so maybe I'm maybe talking out of my armpit. But still - whilst I'd like to see Vettel successfully defend his championship - it just would be good to see. :)

I know the times have been good but judging things on laptimes alone in testing is a dangerous game. I'm dubious to their pace as they couldn't even get the f-duct working properly last season, so how the hell could they suddenly build a car capable of getting right at the sharp end?

The midfield pack of Williams, Renault, Sauber and (maybe) Mercedes is far, far too strong. I do think Toro Rosso can possibly overhaul Force India in the general scheme of things and get a fair few decent points finishes though.

My perennial dark horses are Sauber...

Scuderia Toro Rosso could possibly be a dark "horse or Bull" but you have to put into consideration that everyone during testing this year so far are on different preperation and testing schedules. So it will be hard to tell until everyone takes to the track in Bahrain (if it's on that is) :)

I know. But I am being optimistic. All we need is another reinmeister performance like Vettel's in '08. If it doesn't happen this year - it will next year - because I have a freaky way of predicting things to happen this year, that happen next year. :P:wavey:
