One thing's fo' sho. You don't win WCCs with only one teammate getting podiums.

You guys are all entitled to your opinions, I respect a lot of the things you have posted on other topics....

BUT

I'm so hoping Felipe get's back to his pre Hungary '09 form, and the Pirelli's are good for his style.

When he wins I will be posting and looking to see how many apologies and retractions we see

Webber did well... his injury stories are getting kinda boring by now... he either calms down and stop injuring himself or he's going to really make people believe he's not able to win a championship. Regardless, he's done well. I really thought Vettel was going to trash him but not really... of course it will be easier for Red Bull to get a top "upcoming star" than Webber to land a seat at a top top team.

Massa... he's had do or die yrs a couple of times, in fact, i think he's had a couple do or die races... according to press.
But has had very good seasons and imposing races a couple of times as well. To me, he is just inconsistent. Sometimes, he simply looks unable to figure out a race.

Is there better drivers than Massa in the market? maybe...
but how 'bout this: which non WDC driver (other than obviously Kubica) can one say is "categorically" better than Massa??

Rosberg? i dont know...
Sutil? i dont think so...
Heidfeld? hmmm interesting, but difficult to tell
Kobayashi? its a lot easier to kamikaze pass for P8; not much to lose, a lot to gain. It gets tougher and tougher to explain a failed kamikaze move when you're P2

To me... Massa was dealt a life line with the Kubica injury. I think Robert had one foot in that Ferrari for 2012

If Webber has a yr like last yr, i see no reason to dump him.
On the other hand, if Massa repeats last yr... ouch.......

TBH id rather have a ruined dinner then third degree burns, but then in turn all this mess could be sorted out if Plan A carried on and we just got out the kitchen.

You could also just notch the thermostat down, maintaining a room temperature kitchen whilst enabling your meal to cook through. And suffering no burns meanwhile.

One thing's fo' sho. You don't win WCCs with only one teammate getting podiums.

It can happen, it is mathematically possible. If by "getting podiums" (plural), you mean the #2 driver must come third or better more than once, it did happen.

Prior to 1979, only the team's top finishing driver counted towards WCC. In the three decades since, there has not been an instance of the WCC's #2 car not posting a top 3 result but 1985 came very, very close.

Prost had two teammates at McLaren that season and they took but a single top 3 between them. That occurred when Lauda won the Dutch GP. The #2 McLaren car otherwise had 11 DNFs, one DNS, and came a fourth, a fifth and a seventh.

The scoring scheme that year was 9-6-4-3-2-1 and Ferrari came second in WCC by eight points. Prost came second at Holland, a Lotus came third and a Ferrari, fourth. If Lauda had DNFed at Holland and second, third and fourth positions simply moved up one peg, Ferrari would have scored one extra WCC point and McLaren would have lost six, a net change of seven. McLaren still would have been a single point good of Ferrari for WCC. Even if they'd tied in WCC points, Prost alone had five wins that season and Ferrari just two, so McLaren again would have won WCC on the first tie-breaker. McLaren could have and very nearly did win WCC without their #2 driver ever reaching the podium.

I don't think it's do or die for Webber at all (but possibly a do or retire ). I think he'll be even stronger this season than last if the car is as good or better relative to the rest like it was. He's got two things going for him from my point of view. 1) He's been in a position to win a championship and lost. Sometimes failure is the best thing for you. It teaches you a lot about yourself. 2) He knows he has the ability to challenge everybody and anybody on the grid. So frankly I think he will either win or be in the top 3 again this year, and if he's in the top 3 again this year then he'll probably sign on for 2012 with RB because you don't just quit once you're in a car that can win championships.



And for the record, I hope Rosberg kicks Schumacher's bottom again this year...badly.

You never know, he might have broken another 10 bones in his body. That way he has an excuse for not winning.
