Exactly my thoughts, whoever does win most points per season is better....

Just a small point, having the most points might make you better, but it doesn't always get the WDC... just ask that little French professor.

The same professor with 4 titles to Sennas 3? No, i rate Senna as much as he deserves but i do think Prost is better. That point system despite the clear bias from Jean Marie to Prost was almost tailor made to suit how Senna would attack a championship. win or bust. Sure Prost knew how the system would work too, but its still not suiting his style of driving. Senna deserved that WDC and i dont fret over Prost losing it.

And you like you said, having the most points might make you better, and IMO it does lol ( it is how, what?, 90 percent of all champonships have been decided?). but the championship system didnt agree with that in that year and i take that on the chin. The only year i have a gripe about it 1990....

^^ and then you have to do the same for all the drivers who have different seats, different car design and whatever else; which leaves a lot of it out to...... do you prefer a driver with big teeth or big eyebrows ;)

Brits cant help their huge teeth :D, yeah i think your missing what im saying, im saying different seats and car performance is F1, it has ALWAYS been, its interweaved in the fabric of what constitutes F1, and therefore unless your defending or attacking a driver by singling out the difference in car performance, it shouldnt even be mentioned, because F1 is being the best when your car enables you to, and if it doesnt, then it aint your year to be best! Sure drivers in lowly cars can perform better then those around them, but we cant say theyd do that if they were fighting with the big guns at the top, so we wait until they can. and the WDC has ironically everything but nothing to do with car performance and is used to measure who perfomed best. The same goes with mechanical failures, its all part and parcel of F1, its just used to debate who would of had more points if this didnt happen etc, which is fun to do, but irrelevant.

Im not bothered what his eyebrows or teath look like. I prefer a good fast and fair racer

nothing wrong with lewis' teeth :hehe:

Nobody's said there's anything wrong... they're big though. ;)

Those two viewpoints need not be mutally exclusive.

Case in point...

... Robert Kubica. :hehe:

Unfair comparison, surely, he's never been in a top team.

He still managed a lot of giant killing in that '08 BMW! (and last season at Renault, come to think of it). I think it's fair to say he's widely regarded as a truly top driver and has never been involved in any cheating or controversy unlike messrs Hamilton and Alonso. So i'd argue it is very possible to be both a fast and fair racer...

Well, he hasn't been in the spotlight yet maybe that's why. The top teams are scrutinized most, if the smaller teams cheat in any way which is difficult to spot, it will simply go unnoticed. Controversy exists only when you spot it.

Pretty harsh assumption. Not everyone is a cheat! Just look down the list of past F1 champs, there are loads who haven't ever been involved in major controversy!
