Button lets it out to the media if 08's Honda isnt a front line challenger then he could quit the team after the season. But this could also be seen as him telling McLaren to come get him right now. They have the spare seat and Button is willing to pay his way out of a contract like he did with getting himself out of Williams. So could this be the beginning of an all British driver line-up within McLaren for 2008??

Have you got a source for this information? If Button is gagging to come to McLaren it will be very tough because Ron Dennis has been rather critical of him in the past. In my view he's a solid driver whose style guarantees the car will finish the race, however, he's nothing exciting.

Button is an exciting driver you just never see this on TV when he's not driving at the front end of the grid and as Honda have had three off the pace seasons even thought his first race win came in 06. But i have no insider information but with Alonso out of the way and other drivers seemingly unavailable, Button could jump at the chance to make the move to McLaren whom have been more consistant than Honda

It's funny how I didn't see Senna, Hakkinen, Schumacher, Alonso, Rosberg, Sutil et al. on television all of the time but I was able to notice the job they're doing.

yes but this year Lewis Hamilton stole the headlines in every race just like Button did when started out

To be honest, this is probably Button's best season in Formula One. He did pretty well with a poor car. However, I'm still not convinced he has what it takes to compete with the likes Raikkonen (when on form), Alonso (when not in the huff), and a host of other young drivers who are very talented. With them about I personally think Button has missed the boat.

nah, last season was a mile better, admittedly the car was much higher performing but still, you can't call this season a good one for him. and i think you're probably right, i just can't see Button getting a title now with young blood like Hamilton, Sutil, Vettel, etc. coming in. He's a great driver but I don't think he's going to get a genuine shot at the title

Still, Button's got 6 points in 2007 while Rubens got big ZERO... and Rubens is not that bad... so Button did decent job considering.

I don't think this premise is quite right - Jenson's not targeting a particular team for '08, he's simply giving notice that if he thinks Honda won't give him a car capable of fighting for a championship by the time his career finishes he'll look elsewhere. There's no reason for him to narrow his options to one team - BMW Sauber and Renault could each be in a position to challenge in '09 or '10, and there's also a slim chance Ferrari might come calling, so it's not just McLaren he'd look at, although I'm sure he wouldn't turn them down.

Personally I think he's up there with Hamilton, Raikkonen, Alonso and Rosberg as one of F1's hottest properties, and from the age of 22 onwards he's never been bettered by a team-mate, even though Villeneuve and Barrichello are certainly no mugs.

I think this season Button well outperformed the car.

There was a time when Barichello was a very good driver, but now he's done.

button has had 2 really good seasons. he drove the hell out of the car and did well to get 6 points this year. had some unlucky drives as well, failures on last lap and people taking his wing out.

season before he raced like a genious in a poor car really.

give him something next year. plse honda

also i can see him possible going to renault next year, alonso going to ferrari. just a posibility.

Button might be really pleased to be staying at Honda now that Brawn is coming!

Indeed indeed, I would really enjoy seeing JB in a fast/reliable car.

I wouldn't let Jenson drive the safety car

Firstly I think Jenson like David Coulthard is a talented driver but not a great driver. If McLaren or Ferrari for that matter consider approaching Button for a seat, I firmly believe they will be taking a backwards step. Also Jim , I really can't see Jenson having the luxury of the scenario "he'd look at" where McLaren and Ferrari are concerned. There are so many hot properties in F1 like you mentioned that I'm afraid Jenson along with guys like Fisichella, Barrichello and Sato will merely be making up the numbers at the back of the pack. I'm sorry to say that I think Button has missed his chance but hand on heart , if you compare Hamilton's dedication and determination to Button's when he first arrived on the scene , there are major differences.I think Jenson came into the sport originally with as big a passion for partying as racing
