F1 2011 is last-chance saloon for Massa and Webber

BBC F1 pit-lane reporter Ted Kravitz fears that Mark Webber and Felipe Massa have just one more roll of the dice at Red Bull Racing and Ferrari respectively in F1 2011...

"...[RBR] knows that in Webber it has one of the best drivers on the grid and the perfect foil to Vettel, but in the wake of the pair's very public fall-out last year, the Australian's long-term future at the Milton Keynes-based squad appears almost untenable.

"Massa's F1 2010 campaign was marked by two notable flashpoints – Shanghai and Hockenheim. In China, the 29-year-old was elbowed brusquely out of the way by a charging Alonso upon entering the pit-lane, sending him plummeting down the order; in Germany, he dutifully moved aside to allow the Spaniard to take a wholly undeserved victory...."

Am I the only one finds it humorous that Webber's car number this year is #2 ?

I had to think about that for a second and then I got it, your bad! :hehe:

Well...too bad, he didn't 'bring it' when it counted most at the end of the season.

I'd say its do or die for Webber. He's getting on, and I'm sure Redbull would be looking for another young charger to learn from Vettel before he defects to beloved Ferrari once Alonso retires.

Massa is quite safe, he's perfect for Ferrari and their 'policy'. :biglaugh:

I think it depends.Ferrari and Alonso only want one driver challenging for the title they showed that last year ,so Massa could be ok.As for Webber take into account he was injured near the end of the season, maybe he has enough to offer to maintain his seat anyway.Him and Vettel were close all season.
So on the whole perhaps not ,but I get where your coming from saying it. :)

Guys i think we should remember the main reason Massa couldnt compete last season was because he moaned all season that he couldnt get the tyres warmed up quick enough, considering these Pirellis look like they go off after half a lap that means to get the tyres warm will take considerably less time, and given how Massa when on form is more then a match for anyone on this grid (he is going into 5th year at Ferrari remember) and was more then a match for Hamilton, i think if his problems are sorted this year we neednt worry about him at all. Well Alonso might have to( and lets not be fanboyish if Massa is as good as 2008 Alonso will have his hands full and Ferrari will let them go at it until they cant).

As for Webber, what the actual cocktail sausage are you talking about :hehe:, Webber led the championship for longer then any other driver in 2010 and won loads of races throughout. Silly to think Webber its do or die, christ if not vettel hes probably second favourite for the championship.

I agree on all accounts yet I think the point trying to being made is that Webber after '11 could possibly be deemed by RB as past his expiration date, which I would disagree with. Concerning Massa yes he fit's the supposedly ONLY Ferrari 'policy' and the team I think realized what a PR farce it would have been to sack him without giving him the chance to shine once again after his recovery. All that aside I sadly cannot help but feel that Massa's days may be numbered, even playing second fiddle he could not help secure a WCC but that point is now mute.

I wish both drivers the best and look forward too some outstanding performances from both in '11. :)

Heidfeld is special. He died twice and was resurrected twice.

I'd say yes is the simple answer here... but in Webber's case it shouldn't really because he did a perfectly good job last season! He was consistent and quick, but i just get the feeling Red Bull might be wanting to move on from him and he'll find himself frozen out. Massa on the other hand needs to sort himself out, he capitulated last season. Personally if i was running Ferrari i'd be keeping an eye on Heidfeld's season!

I noticed that in 2010, this year it will be in paint. JK

Any other team will be glad to sign them, and they both would be glad to leave

Both overrated drivers!! I see Alonso and Seb destroying them both, they can whine all they want it wont matter, they're sheep amongst wolves!

Webber's no sheep. He came close with a fractured shoulder. Massa........his team betrayed him.

You guys are all entitled to your opinions, I respect a lot of the things you have posted on other topics....

BUT

I'm so hoping Felipe get's back to his pre Hungary '09 form, and the Pirelli's are good for his style.

When he wins I will be posting and looking to see how many apologies and retractions we see :-)
