Quite possibly for KERS system....

Though that is quite turbulent air by the time it reaches that point, and would reduce the volume of air travelling under the floor. There are easier places to get air from.

The inlets on the side of the airbox are a good solution, as it sees good freestream air.....

The only problem is the way it's done. Russia is white, blue and red. By adding that red section at the top it looks red, white and blue...which is American.

I am not a F1 engineer... but they might have more room to modify the exhuast running it forward, or exhuast backpressure
