I could not get a signal on my cell to return a phonecall inside so I went outside. While outside I saw my elderly neighbor trying to pickup her HUGE trash bin. So I quickly introduced myself, the first time I have seen her since I have lived here, and offered my assistance. We talked for about 20min's and wow what a dear lady she is, it made my day so if you have any related stories to share please do so. She has a 40yr old son in the last stages of battling Gigantism and we discussed that aswell as I have watched many doc's concerning this issue.

So go out and help your fellow man/woman as you recieve more imho than they do. I'll be helping her cleanup her yard which is in need of some assistance.

Spread the love people,
tex :)

Pfft on good deeds! I actually save lives!!! I saw this video two weeks before going on holiday with my nephew http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/10166217

Fast-forward to sitting in the departure lounge with my nephew, he edged his way over to the escalator, next thing, he was hanging onto it a la the above video. I remembered the original vid, took a flying leap, grabbed him, saved his life and painfully banged my elbow.

I will never, ever let him forget it :D

I once stopped an old lady that was trying to mug a teenager, she tried to take his PSP and run off, but I was able to catch up to her until she began trying to stomp on my toes with her walker. The teenager was visibly shaken but not hurt.

ok that was a fictitious story I made up, any similarities between my story and anyone living or real life is strictly coincidence.

I shoveled my neighbor's walk all the way out to the mail box every time a lot of snow has accumulated this year... 4 times and counting. She's 77 and her husband is 81 and had heart surgery this summer.

When I used to work as a live sound tech; I always waived my fee for engineering charity gigs, adding an additional £50 to the charities cause! I probably engineered 20+ charity gigs in my time as a sound tech, which stretches back six years before the abrupt halt when I moved to the US!

Those are the kind of good deeds I'm talking about  .

Once I was commuting from the city to my house, and all the seats in the train were taken up when this gorgeous woman came in and had to stand.

Being the gentleman I am, I stood up and she didn't want to take it though I persisted. She turned out to be very pleasant and lives in a condo walking distance from mine. :cloud9:

More for four paws rather than humans ;)

I've just adopted a rescue cat from my local Cats Protection League. He'd been in their cattery for 6 months as no-one wanted him. He's 13 years old with thyroid problems which means that he has to have a pill twice a day and a visit to the vets every 6 months. The CPL said that they struggle to find homes for cats over about 7 years old and cats who need to take pills...so the fact Kermit has both these issues, they thought no-one would ever take him. The sad thing is that any cat who has thyroid problems, the CPL will pay all their vet bills for the rest of their life just to make sure they go to a good home - and yet still they struggle to find anyone willing to take these cats on (I'm paying for his bills though...the pills are only £15/month anyway).

He's an absolute sweetheart although he likes to sing as loudly as he possibly can at 3am which isn't endearing him to the next door neighbours ;)

I like to knit for charity too so I'm currently knitting up some cat blankets for the CPL :)

Oh yeah speaking of animals I'm an admitted animal lover. If I see an animal and a human in danger, I'd rescue the animal first. Really! :D

But there was this time when a couple of rowdy b**tards were using their stupid Ballbearing guns to torture a stray dog and I managed to tell them to f**k off. And brought the dog back home to feed it..... till my dad came back and chased it off.

It's not a recent one (more like '09), but I'd been chatting to a member of another online community and found out that her husband was stuck out in the east of the US whilst she and the kids were over in the west. They're not well-off and because neither had a job, he couldn't afford the flight home for Christmas. So, seeing as all my shopping was done and I still had money left over, I paid for the ticket and he made it home in time to be with them over December.

Pay it forward.

That was a very generous and kind thing too do Denthúl:) . Now before this thread recieves anymore irrelevant post or post concerning animals although I am a huge animal lover and have two rescues myself I would like to keep the topic on human to human jestures of kindness, please :) .
(I will adjust the thread topic so 'others' is not mistaken for anything else but our fellow man and woman.)

My reason for starting this thread was to show that although we as a world population are in turmoil we still care about others and alitte kindness goes along way. I have given money to the homeless, fed them and participated in Meals on Wheels and nothing helps keep one centered more than helping others regardless of their situation, if I am in a position to help someone less fortunate or in dispair I just jump at the chance to make even the smallest difference if even for just one day.
