Personally, I'd rather give Nick Heidfeld a quick ring. The guy is unemployed and hungry as ever.

ive seen on the news this morning on televison and the doctors are saying it could be a year before he is fully healed, well if they decide to use bruno senna, now you have to show what you can do kid, not such a bad car now

Would also like to see Fisichella get the seat and a worthy ending of his F1-career :wavey:. If Renault is lookíng for an experienced driver, there ain't any better name out there that is so flexible. And the corporation earlier over three seasons was a healthy one. Fisi is too good to be battling along with Alesi in touring cars right now...

But too sad about Kubica! Hope he recovers fully. I thought he would have a real chance to become champion this year... :crying:

Really bad news for Kubica and Renault. From the severity of the injury and surgury I suspect they are implying that he is unlikely to ever be able to drive F1 again.....terrible news.

As for a replacement.....Hulkenberg or Heidfeld are the best bet. There is absolutely no way that Genii Capital, Renault and the Lotus (Proton) Group are going to entrust their whole year to Senna and Petrov.......no chance.

I dont see why Hulkenburg is mentioned so many times. If he didn't get that magical pole in Brazil, I doubt anyone would even remember he existed. Flash in the pan, anyone?

Do you really think he can lead any team in F1, let alone a former multiple champion team. Heidfeld is the sole prospect available, he's quiet but he can get the job done for Renault.

Senna will surely have the drive for the whole season provided he is on the pace and matching Petrov who now will have to be the lead driver for the team. Big task.

If Senna is off the pace I see Heidfeld getting the drive since you can be sure he will score points and probably lot's of them if the Renault is as good as we all think it is.

Not to demean Robert's plight but there's a strong rumour that Renault are trying to wrestle Kimi out of Rally to join ASAP this season. Not necessarily from the start.

Pretty far out but imagine if it happens.

Doesn't surprise me really. They need a big talent.

That's actually a better option than Nick. Big money to get Kimi back specially since he has set up his own team for this years WRC.

I dont think Kimi and Eric Boullier are on great terms. Kimi stressed before that Renault were abusing his name for their own benefit and that he will surely 'Not be racing for Renault in 2011'. Will Eric swallow his ego and go to Kimi again? Doubt so.

Like I said, gonna take some big money and probably some bottom kissing.

Just read Alonso actually went to the hospital to talk to the doctors and try see Kubica. I didn't realise they were such good friends.

I think Raikkonen would only bother if it transpires that the Renault is quick enough to win races.

Pretty harsh, he trounced everyone in GP2 in '09 and there were quite a few current F1 drivers in that field.

 if they do decide to go with senna, he is in the deep end now, its sink or swim

Won't it make Heidfeld a better prospect? No bottom kissing required, and much cheaper?

Alonso only gets along with 1 driver on the grid, which is Kubica. Alonso's own words. They're "Bffs"
